If Kraft Foods Takes Over Cadbury That's It!

As I type this there are ongoing talks afoot that Kraft Foods is extremely likely to take over Cadbury. If this happens I shall never, EVER eat Cadbury chocolate ever again. The way I see it, the Cadbury workers here in the UK will probably lose their jobs anyway, so I won't be hurting them. I'm so angry about this! Is nothing sacred anymore? Are there any British companies left? I'm struggling to remember any! Grrrr!

I always thought Cadbury was Australian. Guess I should have known that they were not as not much here is. The majority of Australian companies are owned by American companies these days. Many iconic Australian brands have gone down that path, some to Kraft. It is sad to see this happening time and time again across the world, but you are probably better off without the cadbury's chocolate anyway. No good for you!

That's true...but it's the principle of it. Cadbury is probably the most iconic British brand that everyone knows. Granted, a lot of its products (ironically) are now made abroad but there are still 4,000 workers in England who are now unsure of what will happen in future. It's them I feel sorry for. Kraft will not be able to understand the human side of this as the Bournville community was created for its workers by the owners many, many years ago. I learned today that Kraft have gone into serious debt to be able to AFFORD Cadbury. That can only mean one thing; job losses. I can't type anymore about this, I'm so ANGRY!

I feel your pain. The Hudson's Bay Company, an iconic Canadian institution for centuries, is now owned by an American company.

It's not a "done deal" as yet although the newscasters are predicting it will be. I feel so sad for the Bournville community, houses that were built FOR THE WORKERS years ago. Saw it on the TV a while back and you should see it, absolutely gorgeous place and the workers are still there to this day. I feel ashamed to be British right now

I worked for Kraft General Foods for 20 years, and I found it an excellent work place. The American Company was American owned, but I worked for a Canadian Subsidiary, that manufactured over 100 sugar based products, here in Canada. The sugar was produced in Cuba and shipped to Canada because of an American embargo on Cuban products which disallowed US. sugar imports from Cuba. The sugar based products were made in Canada and then exported to the USA. This was all above board and made money for Kraft General Foods. This Canadian branch of Kraft Foods has since been closed, and the buildings sold, but I'll always remember Kraft General Foods, as a good place to work!

I'm not having a go at Kraft Foods, just the fact that Cadbury will no longer be British if this deal goes ahead. I find it so sad.

I think it's all over the place not with just Cadbury. Such as our American Made Budwiser it's no longer American owned... A company in Belgium bought it. So i think this happens over and over again all over our globe. And yes it upsets me too. But maybe Cadbury is struggling and needing an out. Or they had enough of the chocolate business. Either way it's quite sad.
