I am going to go with Lil's answer and take it even further. Out right coruption in our government and worse, apathy in our citizenry. We have straye dmuch too far from our consitution and the ideals of those who wrote it. Nearly every problem we face today in this country can be almost directly traced back to not sticking to that simple document and it's timeless principals. We have all but forgotten the proper role of the federal government and the importance of a strong and self sufficiant state government. Untill we get back to hose principals, nothing we do is going to change anything for the better in this country. And until we begin revitalizing our impotent and dependant state governments, we will never clean the corruption out of washington. THAT is the biggest problem this nation faces.

Our biggest problem? That we KNOW we are in deep trouble as a country and we can not trust our elected officials to do the right thing.
Until we get elected officials that are fair and honest no matter what party they are with...we are not going to turn things around. Until our elected officials kick lobbyists OUT of our government...the average american won't have a voice in the government because we don't have millions to buy their votes with.
Until the corruption and greed are gotten under control and the american public can begin to trust on some small level our elected officials....then I don't see our major issues getting resolved.

I agree with you. If something is not done to
improve this problem, it will only get worse.
There is a job problem and we also have a
money problem. Our money is not worth what it
was once before. I am praying for it to change.
Happy posting.

In my opinion,it's still illegal immigration. If we stop illegal immigration,we would help solve many of our countries problems.

no,above replies are all wrong. In the 21th century, the greatest problem US face is how to handle with China's standup.China have been US biggest enemies in many regions ,although China think both countries would make friends, the US do not think so.u will realize many issues both countries argued fiercely besides Taiwan and human rights issues .

Yes I agree that unemployment is at its worse. However after hearing the President talk tonight with his State of the Union speech I think we still have hope. Remember without hope we have nothing at all.

I think unemployment is a problem.
But, in the medium- to long-term, it's the same problem that most Western economies and societies face: the demographic time bomb. People are having fewer children, are living longer and wealth is increasingly concentrated in the hands of the aged.
What this means - especially after the recent (horrific) transfer of wealth from the public to the private sector (in the form of government bailouts) - is that those of us who aren't of the 'baby boomer' generation will have to work longer, and harder, for less money, whilst paying higher taxes.
I think the social fallout will be immense: see France and Greece for a sneak preview of this...

The US biggest problem is health care and how expensive it is.
