| | I don't get embarrassed by hiccuping, but if you want to stop it, there are a few ways I've heard. One of them is to hold your breath for 10 seconds or more a couple of times. Another is to breath into a paper bag. I can't say to the effectiveness of these methods or any other. From what I understand, a hiccup is an involuntary thing and just has to be waited out. | | it is not amusing. specially in my case, my hiccups are loud that it almost sounds like a burp. so, what i do is i drink water. lots of it. if there's no water at hand i stop breathing as long as i can hold my breath. after that, my hiccups would stop. | | | | | | |

| | The only thing that cures hiccups and I have used this for MANY MANY MANY years is a teaspoonful or a packet... of sugar pour it on your tongue and then just slowly suck on it until it dissolves.. 98% of the time it works right off..And your hiccups will be gone. (I always carry a couple sugar packets in my purse -so this works great). The 2% of the time it doesn't work wight away.. just do it again.. by the 2nd spoonful.. they will go away!!! | | hiccups, i know some treatment that could help you relieve your hiccups for some time. drink a glass full of water without stopping, that works for me. or put a 1/3-1/2-spoon full of sugar at your mouth and let it dissolve there. ive read some books and articles also that you should try to breath deeply or breath on a paperbag. never done breathing on a paper bag, but drinking water and the spoonful of sugar really works for me. you shouldn't be embarrassed having hiccups, many people have it too. there's a medicine for that, if your having hiccups with chestpain, or at your heart, better consult your physicians about that and never take that for granted. just avoid acidic and spicy food, never induced yourself to vomiting.im not onto panic situation, just be calm, rest and prioritize what you should do.. | | | | | | |
