Mayan calendar  

I agree. The Mayan calander is actually an amazing piece of work. From what I understand it has been accurate over two thousand years to just a couple hours (or something like that). It is quite amazing how they organized everything into cycles, and even more amazing that the cycles revolve around living off of the land. In fact they say that the largest cycle (something like 25,000 years) is actually our solar system's revolution around the axis of the galaxy! But would it be practical to use this in everyday life? Sure, if you lived like the Maya did. I guess you could integrate the cycles into the calendar we use, kind of like astrology.

That's exactly what I thought. But there are many calendars out there that show you what day it is by both calendars. I kinda think of it like a personal development calendar. Today is Jan 29 or blue solar monkey which is about bringing out your inner child.

I would tend to agree with that. The Mayan people were very smart and in tune with nature. Makes me wonder sometimes if the world would be a better place if we kept more of their values.

Just last night they were talking about them and 2012 on "The Nostradomus Effect" If they're calendar is accurate, then the world looks to be in for a nasty surprise. Sun storms, astroids, nuclear attacks....
