yes i'm usually experiencing that too. i find it hard to start a topic sometimes. maybe i'm not just into the mood or run out of ideas! haha! just like for today, i did not post any interesting discussions though i'm still responding to some discussions that interests me :D

I've done that plenty of times. Or sometimes I just know I want to start a discussion about something, but then I just give up on it because I don't think it be a good discussion after all. I guess that is why I don't start very many discussions at all.

Yes, I can definitely relate! What I have started doing is writing down an idea for a discussion on a notepad that I carry in my purse. I get ideas when I'm at the grocery store waiting in line or at the gas station filling up. But there have been times when just like you I wanted to start one, but couldn't get a topic or question that I could decide on! What I also do is review a few discussions and add a few comments and that gets some ideas coming to me. Also if you have a favorite topic like Cats are for me, that's a big help too! Take care!!

I rarely have the problem of not knowing what kind of discussion to start when I decide that I want to start a discussion because as things that I think could be interesting come to me I will jot them down on a piece of paper that I keep on my desk and then I have a list of potential discussions right in front of me. This is good for me as well because I like to start one discussion each day but sometimes I will think of five or more decent topics for discussion in the same day.
