Yes it is true. Were I work,at a college, there are strays around. Not sure how many but I do see some on a regular basis. Ine of the woen who works in the pantry departemnt decided to take care of the stray cats. Like around two years ago when she noticed some kittens running aound. She feeds them once a day with food scraps from the left over food, like scrambled eggs, sausages, hamburger and even throws in a little dry cat food in the mix. She even traped most of the strays and had them fixed! Two were sick one time and she took them home and took care of them. THose 2 cats became house cats! The strays are so well fed they have big tummy's and aren't doing alot of mousing anymore! Somedays they wait to be fed outside by the dumpsters where she feeds them! My co-worker did a good thing but went a little overboard with the feeding!

I guess you can call this a hobby. I know it gives pleasure and happiness to my co-worker. She is doing something nice and it makes her happy.

I remember that when I was still in College there were also a lot of stray cats in our campus. One of my brods adopted one stray cat and took it to our Sorority/ Fraternity House. Then, he decided to take it home. My brods and sissess feed the stray cats going to our Frat/ Soro House. I am not sure if there are still a lot of stray cats in our campus. The last time I took a visit there was almost 3 years ago.

I wouldn't doubt there is still stray cats at the campus you used to attend! If there are stray cats at a place they usually stick around. Maybe the female will but most males like to wonder.

I'm sure there are days she can't get there and they don't get fed, so she wants to make sure they have enough to survive if they miss a day now and then - heck, I've got some fat cats too, but then again, I free feed, so those who are fat have eaten themselves that way.
she's very kind to have gotten them fixed and feeding them.

The strays I talk about aren't the only cats I know who are fat! I know some fat cats at the stable I work at! These cats get fed well, too! I make sure of that! Mostly with dry food but I do feed them canned food once in awhile.

That's very sweet of her to feed the strays and to take care of them. Yeah, maybe they gained a little weight but they're probably not fat off of scraps. They're probably still mousing but not for food. Cats like to kill mice just for the fun of it sometimes. I don't know if the school where you work would have a huge mouse problem anyway, so I would just not worry about it.

maybe the cats are mice hunting. I really don't know. A few years back the college had a mice problem. Most of the dorms had mice in the walls. In the building where the kitchen is located we had a big mice problem! It had nothing to do with the strays not hunting! We had a mouse problem which wasn't taken care of properly until someone was hired to in charge of my boss! Until that happened mice were found almost daily in the store room! They didn't get into much becuase alot of the food is in cans. The cooks would set up trays and catch the mice. My boss just ignored the problem and so did alot of other people! Finally where my boss had a new boss he got in terminix and solved the problem! Since then the cats do the mousing!

Awww that reminds me of a nebor of ours who does the same thing. At the moment she has way to many cats in her apartment, but she gets away with it. Its just the way things work around here. I'm glad those strays get fed at least, and a couple got to become housecats. Its a kind thing for someone to do.

I don't like the idea of people taking in cats and having more then they should! Unless they are well feed and taken care of. My co-workers sure did a nice thing and I know she will continue to do it as long as there are cats around!

Your co-worker is a really kind lady to feed the stray cats and care in her home for the sick cats. The stray cats are hungry. They need some loving care from a thoughtful person. Food scraps might otherwise be thown away. She is letting the mice survive. Scraps are easier to eat for a cat than hunting for mice or birds. When I went on a trip to the Canary Islands my home and I bought tins of cat food for the stray cats. I love cats but I don't have any cats of my own. I have two dogs.

She is a good person and it seems to give her more meaning to her dull life! Less food gets wasted when the cats are fed and I guess she is letting the mice survive. If I was a cat and I was given food scraps I wouldn't hunt either!
