I almost burned up my coffee pot! |
| |
| That's right it was a very scarey moment this morning. See, my alarm goes off and I push the snooze and hit the button on my coffee maker. But then when my alarm goes off I see that there is no coffee in the pot! I was like what the...? Then I realized I hadn't put water in it the night before. I had put the filter and coffee in it but forgot the water! I let it cool a bit and made another pot! sheesh! That was too close! You ever done something like that? | | | | | |

| | That is a bad feeling. I know becuase once I was catering an event with my mom and we had a coffe carafe with a burner under it. The coffee had run out and the carafe all of a sudden exploded from the bottom. Little shards of glass were everywhere. So consider yourself lucky at least you didn't have broken glass just no coffee. Welcome to the third Monday of the week. ;o) | | | | | | |

| | Yes, I just did the same thing a couple of days ago. I think this stuff happens when you have way tooooo much stuff on your mind. I know it does for me and I have to be extra careful as I'm not concentrating on what I'm doing. I remember a couple of months ago too, I had some green beans on the stove cooking on the lowest heat, and I took them off, put them in a bowl, put the pot back on the stove, and forgot to turn off the heat. Next thing I know, my fire alarm is going off, and voila, there's my pot on the stove turning black. I almost died on the spot seeing that. Now I try really, really hard to remember to turn the darn thing off and not get side-tracked. | | | | | | |

| | If I have coffee, I like the instant kind.....so.....back in the "old days" (hehehe), I once filled the kettle...put it on the burner, and turned on the stove. Then fell asleep. Naturally, the water boiled away. I woke up the next morning to an awful burnt metal odor, and a kettle with a glowing red bottom. Now I only use a kettle that shuts itself off, provided I put water in it. Believe it or not, I've even forgotten to that on occasion. cdrxo | | | | | | |

| | I am lazy so most of the time I don't get it ready the night before. I don't drink too much coffee as is. I have left the empty coffee pot on it's burner, but I took it off quick enough as it's not broken and there are no cracks. | | | | | | |

| | I worrk at a local coffee shop and we do this all the time. We always have a few burnt coffee pots by the end of our shift. We have a special pot cleaner for the pots because we us them so much and the burnt is so big. But if it does burn or get dirty put a little vinegar in and fill the rest with water and let it sit on the hot element / burner this will clean the pot and remove the burntness then just wash it afterwards. | | | | | | |
