Bicycle riders' risks on a busy highway --- have you ever seen one?

Here, the motorcycle riders get hailed when seen not wearing the proper helmets. They are given citation tickets and they pay fine. However, I don't see bicycles having plate numbers and registered with the local transportation agency. It is risky for them to ride along big buses and other vehicles in busy city streets --- most of them do not even have protective head gears.

It really is about time this was taken into hand as they put their lives at risk for no reason just because they are in too much of a rush. The Cyclists have also come in for a bashing and not before time almost none of them wear reflectors or have proper lamps on their Bikes including the Miguel Indurain imitators you see so often here.

I have noticed that, too. Most of these cyclists don't wear reflectors nor these are pasted on their bikes. They have become unmindful of these safety precautions that they are putting their lives into risk. Some of them even have riders on their back.

There are so many of them that dress up like the famous Spanish Cyclists but they forget the essential thing the mirror, the backlights the lot. They also have the bad habit of riding in front of the Cars in twos or threes instead of a single file.

They are here, too. They come in groups at times and drivers have to be cautious as they just "pop up" from behind so quickly you almost have no time for the brakes. Backlights and reflectors which are pasted on their helmets and back portion of their bikes are important for safety.

Well there are far more happy stories about cyclists than tragic ones so I prefer to think and hope that they will stay safe and have the good sense to keep off the very dangerous roads which they are even if they don´t want to comply with the traffic regulations which really they should. Because no one wants to knock them down and hurt them at all it really is time they had a Law to make them take some kind of Driving Sense Exam for their own safety as well as others. After all if they stopped the Skate Boarders why can´t they do the same with them?

With the apparent danger on their safety, I also hope they are always safe on the road. Most of these bicycle users are medium-income earners or even lower and the only transportation that they can afford are bicycles. Thanks and be well always.

That´s right but the trouble is you cannot even walk down a pathway which there is without a cyclist trying to bowl you over with the speed they are going.
They don´t even warn you and they are about two inches behind you before you realise that they are there and you have to jump out the way. I find this rude behaviour bad really bad as they could at least ring a bell or something well that´s supposing they have one. One just brushed past my left shoulder the other Day and he almost sent me flying. I know they have the bikes for a reason but there is no reason to take their anger out on other people. Because if you behave like this you are expressing anger or bitterness against someone they just come straight down the hill and it does not matter if you are in the way. I was close very close to shouting something at him. These bikes they use here are very swift and fast and make no noise so you cannot here them till they are right upon you and they can injure you imagine a full grown man knocking you over at that speed.
Kids bikes are more clumsy so you can hear them but the adult ones not as they are built for speed and nothing else.
I don´t mind the kids as they do it without malice and they always say sorry.

That is terribly bad. That is mean and rude for them to do that. I had not been in that situation before and with the times that I had walked through the streets, cyclists (sometimes only one) are careful not to run too close to pedestrians here. Some have bells to warn pedestrians.

Well the ones that I have come across now will not do that they are so busy racing away that I don´t think they care if they knock someone over. Probably thinking well it´s only a bike, but a bike coming at you full speed down a hill can cause you a lot of damage as silly as it might sound. Those pedals on their Bikes come sharp too if they scratch your legs.

Yes they stop for the red light. But what is more risky for them is that they race with cars and even buses WITHOUT protective head gears. They criss-cross lanes which makes it even more risky.
