Bicycle riders' risks on a busy highway --- have you ever seen one?

Just this morning, I saw one bicycle rider side by side with a motorcycle rider while waiting for the traffic light to change. I noticed that the motorcyle rider had his helmet on and so with the rider at his back. I also noticed too well that the bicycle rider beside him did not have any protective head gear on. I saw that this was too risky for him.
Have you seen a similar situation in your place? Have you, at one time, observed or noticed other potential risks these two bikers have?

Hiya MMT,
Bikers here are being fined a lot so they are taking more notice of having to put their Helmets on and have their Motorbikes in proper condition. They also get fined for parking badly now or for speeding and overtaking in wrong places even the cyclists are coming under fire too.

Hi LAI,
Here, the motorcycle riders get hailed when seen not wearing the proper helmets. They are given citation tickets and they pay fine. However, I don't see bicycles having plate numbers and registered with the local transportation agency. It is risky for them to ride along big buses and other vehicles in busy city streets --- most of them do not even have protective head gears.

Hiya MMT,
It really is about time this was taken into hand as they put their lives at risk for no reason just because they are in too much of a rush. The Cyclists have also come in for a bashing and not before time almost none of them wear reflectors or have proper lamps on their Bikes including the Miguel Indurain imitators you see so often here.

Hi LAI,
I have noticed that, too. Most of these cyclists don't wear reflectors nor these are pasted on their bikes. They have become unmindful of these safety precautions that they are putting their lives into risk. Some of them even have riders on their back.

At least the bicyclist stopped for the red light. Those in our town tend to breeze right on past stop signs and even sometimes through red lights.

Yes they stop for the red light. But what is more risky for them is that they race with cars and even buses WITHOUT protective head gears. They criss-cross lanes which makes it even more risky.
