For me, Corn Oil is the best oil for cooking. It has been claimed that Corn Oil and other oil like canola, sunflower, olive, etc. contain low saturated and and trans fats. Saturated and trans fats raise higher LDL (Low density lipoprotein) cholesterol and less HDL (high density lipoprotein). It is said that LDL cholesterol is considered a "bad fat" and is more likely to cause Atherosclerosis that will usually lead to stroke. Atherosclerosis is the accumulation of thick fats in the inner walls of the heart. Since LDL has small molecules, it can easily go inside the heart walls. Good fats include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats for they have low total cholesterol low LDL amount. Omega 3 fats belongs to polyunsaturated. Here's the list of cooking oils that are said to be good cooking oils: canola, olive, sunflower, corn, peanut, flax seed, safflower, Indeed, based on the information, coconut oil is included in the "bad cooking oils" and also palm oil, butter, hard margarine, palm kernel, vegetable shortening. Corn oil belongs to the "GOOD COOKING OILS" and it is said that it is best to fry with corn oil because it has higher smoke point compared to Olive oil that has low smoke point. I hope it was informative. =)

Hi, s. I think that Canolia Oil works great too. It helps in preventing Heart Disease. I use this when I cook any of my foods. I put it in my chicken and vegetables.

I like sunflower oil. The taste is good and I believe that it is quite healthy aswell. I have never used coconut oil before but it would be worth giving it a try. Olive oil doesn't do the trick for me; I've tried it but it makes me feel sick to my stomache. It ruins the taste of my food . There are also some good cooking oils out there that are especially made to be low on cholesterol and calories and those taste pretty good in my opinion aswell.

choose oil that is high in monosaturated or polysaturated fat, this oil are non reactive to cholesterol oil and it has antioxidant and it doesn't add up to fats in your body..

I agree and though we consume very little oil for the same health reasons you say we only use coconut oil - though that is the costliest. It also exudes a very different aroma and flavour to the cooking and tastes the best.

Very well said my friend. Coconut oil is best for preventing cholesterol. But sometimes it depends upon the people. In India different people prefer different edible oils. In north India we use mustard oil as edible oil. Whereas south Indian use coconut oil in their food. It depends on the region. I think it is India's rich variation in culture.
