| | I've never heard of this home remedy for fleas..Do you feed it to them or apply it to them? I have a friend that swears by adding brewers yeast to her dogs food for preventing fleas. She sas it works as long as she does it on a regular basis. | | | | | | |

| | she says once a week in the wintertime, fleas aren't really an issue then but she likes to keep it in their system, in the spring and summer 3 times a week..more if it's a bad flea season. Evidently the yeast gives the dog an odor that fleas find unpleasant but humans don't notice. | | | |

| | Hey BlueGhost - I read your response where you said you give your golden 5 cloves and your pom 1 clove. That concerns me. It sounds like a lot. Be careful - too much could be toxic. I know dogs react differently and your dogs sound like they can tolerate it but just be careful. I personally would decrease 1-2 cloves for the golden and 1/2 clove for the pom. Do the research - it's dosed by weight. I have a bottle of chopped garlic in my frige and add about a teaspoon to the food for our malinois and 1/4-1/2 teaspoon for our bichon. Neem is good and can be used as a supplement, made into a spray repellent and added to shampoo. My husband and I have had many different dogs for over 20 years and have never had a flea problem. | | | | | | |

| | I don't exactly know how long the effectiveness is but what is does is it permeates the dogs coat giving out an odor that the fleas don't like. It should work if you add it to your dog's food a few times a week, maybe every other day. Like I said, bring it down to 1-2 cloves for your golden and probably 1/4 for your pom. | | | |
