How much power is consumed by a CRT monitor and a LCD monitor  

Definitely, CRT uses electron beams so it generates more heat and uses more electricity than LCD. It's also more bulky.

There are a lot of advantages to using an LCD monitor and you've mentioned just one of them. The LCD monitors consume far less energy than a CRT monitor. Another of the great advantages to using an LCD monitor is that it is far less bulky than a CRT monitor. My husband and I both use LCD monitors for our computers because of the energy saving benefits and we are now in the process of changing over our television to an LCD for the space efficiency.

Power Consumption for 15/17/19 CRt monitors falls under 60~90 watt, but for TFT it remain within 20~60 Watt. So there is a difference in power consumption power between TFT amd CRT.

We have a LCD monitor in the house and we also had CRT monitor. We alternately using it like one month for the LCD and another one month for the CRT. I realized that when I used the LCD monitor the electricity consumption is much lesser it decreased and I am bit happy with that.

Now I am using LCD monitor and used the CRT monitor for standby purposes like if the Lcd wont function anymore. It's better to have two monitors in the house in case the other will not work anymore.
