Wow! That's a new one for me! Never heard of ant that could do that. I think they have far better sense of smell than perhaps we do.

Sadly, who ever lived there before you must have left food about and the ants have come to think of your apt as their diner!

hi ifa225 I really do no think a itsy bitsy ant can eat through tough plastic, so somehow the ants get in when something is opened. get some boric acid crystals and put them where the ants come in to your kitchen, they will not go over it, and they will leave at once. be careful around children and pets though, but if the ants do the same as the ones did in my kitchen the children and pets wont be able to reach the boric acid crystals.

If I recall right you can also have small amounts of cornmeal which is safearound kids and animals. They eat it and it expands and explodes them. I think I also read that if you use chalk around the areas they are coming in they wont cross it!

Boric acid crystals? where can i get it? i never heard this before...uh-huh...my knowledge is very less...
and christina, i had try that chalk but it looks so dirty, and sometimes i don't realize the track chalk i had touched. then i touch the milk. It is danger if some of that chalk pour in my kids milk. But thank you anyway.

I've had the same problems too. I guess the only solution is to store food in airtight containers or to put them in the refrigerator. Like you, I once tried storing food inside a plastic bag. I thought the ants wouldn't be able to smell it. But they were able to smell it, and they made holes on the plastic.

Woah...never knew that. Glad I do now. Hmmm...we keep our food in the ref so that ants or mice wont eat it and whenever a food like cake that has been left in the table for an hour or two has ants crawling all over it, sometimes we do is scare all the ants away to the cake and put the cake inside the ref.
