Do animals celebrate Valentines day?  

its weird sound this!but its incredible... but maybe its a posibility..

Hello there and happy valentines day to you.In my point of view,regardless what species we are , and regardless on what day or celebration it might be, when you're in love , then everyday could become a hearts day...It doesn't really matter what day it is 'coz when you're in love, then it just overflows naturally...Am i right at this???

Hi! Maybe they do, if they know that today is the valentine's day! Maybe among the animals there is also love and not just mating, because as we know there are many polygamies animals, but there are also many monogamies animals, which stay with their female or male partner whole life long, and I don't think it is just an animal instinct or some think like that. by the way, today I have heard some birds singing a nice and lovely song. maybe they know what day is today

Animals don't celebrate a special day just like humans do. They always are in good terms with their kind, fish for fish, dogs for dogs, chickens to chickens. It is not an unusual sight to see a fish being intimate. That's how they are just like any animals. I don't celebrate valentines day either doing a special activity or something that let people know I celebrate the occasion.

lol as for my precious gold fishes they got electrocuted on valentines day. sigh they all died. i found them floating lifeless and saw an adaptor from the inside of their aquarium. I pulled the adaptor out of the tank, OMG it was still smoking. it was tragic.

I actually really dont know. I know my dogs and cats knew yesterday was a special day but I dont know if they knew what though. I guess they could but it just be a coincidence though. I guess when us humans know its something we special attention to it for example affection between animals that we normally wouldnt.

It's a lovely idea. I can imagine the fish wining and dining eachother and the birds and the bees getting romantic in the trees. And the best part of it is that they'd do it without all the darn commercialism!! No Hallmark-sponsored holidays in the animal world, so they are undoubtedly cleverer than us, lol!

It a very funny topic that you have chosen ant its shows your presence of mind.Now coming to the topic ,i think animals might be celebrating valentines day in their secret ways which is not visible to us.It is also possible that must be celebrating their valentines day on any different date.As you told that you saw two fishes making love,then i feel that they must be celebrating their valentines day on that day only.

As far as my Biology is concerned (which isn't so reliable anymore), animals don't need Valentine's day to "make love". They simply follow their instincts. I'm trying to sound smart!
