Today is officially Day 46 into the New Year. And the amount of days that we have been trying to save money.
The main goal of saving money has been not going out to eat and eating at home. Out of 46 days we have gone out to eat 4 times. Which honestly isn't bad seeing as thou we use to go out from 4 to 6 times a week down to only 4 times in a month and half. But still everything needs improvement.
I"m still having issues of spending too much at the grocery store. Therefore we haven't saved.. well... much of anything. It's like if I have coupons for something and a sale I feel like I need to buy them just cause we would be saving money in the long run. But with doing that We have a huge supply of food and we save using our coupons. But every week we are overspending on out budget we figured out for our food expenses.
The only conclusion I came up for this is not to look at the paper for adds and just clip the coupons and be done. well I've tried this so far it's only worked one week. Than the following week I went back to looking. And it doesn't help my friend told me about a website that links all of your old coupons to the weekly sales. This has actually made me spend more.
So what do you think a Bad thing spending more than normal for grocerys but a good thing for saving money? Is there really a way to have a Happy Medium?
Any suggestions would be wonderful I could use the advice.

I have a hard time making things from scratch but on some things I do. But I'm one of those people that like quick, easy and fast to make. But if I wasn't so lazy and just make a bunch up and put it in the freezer it wouldn't be so bad. And the fact that all we have it the freezer on our refridge may also count against me.
But I'll try to stick with a list thou. Just not very good at it since I find other sales that would save us money in the long run.

Our Dollar General store has a coupon on it several times a month for $5 off $25 or more. When they have these I use it along with my other coupons to stock up on my paper goods (toilet tissue, trash bags, shampoo, etc.) and then I take a month off from buying them. I am doing that this month so I don't have to buy any of those things during December, when I will need to be buying Christmas gifts. Also try taking one week off from the store and just use the items you have around the house. If you must go to the store only buy bread, milk and the few other staples you must buy weekly. Good luck with the saving! Keep us posted and let us know how it goes.

I also use a web site called hillbillymom to get recipes. I look at recipes to see how many ingredients are used. I also have some recipes that I have made up that use less ingredients. I make a shopping list and stick to it. I do not buy anything extra.I plan a weekly menu. I do use coupons. I wish there was a way I could post recipes on here, but I think it is against the rules.
