What the? seriously? The NAACP is awarding him one of its image awards and refferred to him as a national treasure.
"Van Jones is an American treasure," Jealous writes in an opinion piece posted at CNN.com. "He is quite simply one of the few Americans in recent years to have generated powerful new ideas that are creating new jobs."
Holy crap! I missed something, what jobs did he create? All these jobs being created in Washington, you would think we would feel it by now.
Jones was a self-described "communist" during the 1990s and previously worked with a group dedicated to Marxist and Leninist philosophies. His comments, even in recent years, were often racially charged. He's blamed "white polluters and white environmentalists" for "steering poison" to minority communities.
Yep - theres an image thats noteworthy.
Wow
you can get the whole story here. What do you think of his new award? It also said he is a rising star in environmental circles - I totally believe that.

I think that there are better candidates for the NAACP to honor, African Americans who truly embody a love of country and live a life of service to their country and the black community. To choose someone whose stated ideals are so anti-American and often bordering on racist, does nothing to advance the image and quality of life for African Americans and that is the goal of the organization, isn't it? The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People?
