Plug-In Air Fresheners  email this discussion to a friend?

The other night, I cooked Cajun chicken for dinner. It was delicious, but left the house smelling horrible! When I went to work the next day, I was paranoid because my hair and my coat smelled like something not-so-nice. So...I pulled out the plug-in air freshener (Sensual Amber scent - LOL), and it did the trick! However, I've heard plug-in air fresheners are a huge risk for fires since they involve the electrical and stay plugged in all the time. I unplug mine when I'm not at home, but what have you heard about them? Do you use them or do you prefer candles? I use both, but I always feel like I have to be in the same room when candles are lit whereas plug-in fresheners don't require attending except when I decide to unplug them. Let me know what you use to freshen your house!

I've used plug in air fresheners for years and never had any problems with them getting hot - UNLESS - you forget to take the sent packettes out and let them burn up into nothing. I'm not worried about a fire hazzard because change them regularly and I don't use them behind a curtain or have furnature in front of it.

I love the smell of candles too. I have an old coffee up that put on the stove top. Inside I put lavendar or vanilla candle in it and whenever use the oven it heats the candle and we get the scent. I don't even have to light it. I still have little kids at home and that flame to them can be so tempting so I started using the coffee cup on the stove and let the stove do all the work so I can savely leave the room.

That is a great idea about using scents on the stove - I had never thought of that. That's going to be very helpful when we have kids because, of course, you know how curious they are! They would want to for sure touch the flame on the candle and wonder what's plugged into the wall that smells so good - LOL! Thanks for your great ideas! I'm glad you've found something that works for you and keeps the house smelling nice. Take care!
