Significance of meatless day and animal rights |
| |
| The main aim of this meatless day is to create awareness in the mind of people in regard to the cruelty towards animals. I am not against non-vegetarians but personally feel it is time human had a second thought when eating an animal. Just think it was killed to satisfy your appetite. After all we are all creation of god and these animals also have the right to live. Animals should not be harrassed for shows/circus or races as it is also a type of explotiation by human beings. It is time we love and protect these animals as many of them are decreasing day by day. If one denies animal rights a day may come when our grandchildren will have these animals only in the books and pictures and the zoos will be extinct. What do my mylotting friends wish to say regarding this. Do share your views and happy mylotting. | | | | | |

| | I am all against using animals for circuses, races and other recreation shows and also against poaching of animals for their skin and other body parts. Though a lot of international awareness and condemnation has resulted in using imitation animal skin and furs for clothes and other accessories, a lot more still needs to be done. There are people and countries where ignorance and superstition ensures that animals are poached for their body parts as talisman and other protective wears…it’s a big racket involving millions and many countries and I wonder how serious the politicians are about this cause. However, I see no justification in humans not eating animals any more. We all are a part of the natural food chain and I do believe that humans were made omnivorous with a particular scheme…we balance out both the flora and fauna in the eco system and play our vital role in maintaining it. And I don’t think any animal has become extinct just by eating…poaching for skin, fur, oil and other body parts is a more serious threat. | | | | | | |

| | I share the same sentiments as you, bewitched13. Yes, it is really cruel of us humans to kill an animal for its meat and other parts of the body. We just have to ourselves in their (the animals) shoes. Therefore, I try not to eat meat if possible. And I will definitely not kill an animal for its meat even if I have nothing to eat. They are other substitutes like fruits and vegetables which can fill my stomach all the same. | | | | | | |

| | It is a good thought and we should stop killing our animals and preserve them. It is important to pass the importance of preserving animal wealth to new generation. But, please don't tell me to stop eating non-veg because non-veg dishes are so damn tasty. My mouth is watery now thinking about tandoori chicken and mutton curry. I cut down on my meat consumption and now I have non-veg only once in a week. I also feel for the animals if I physically kill them and cook. I may also feel the same if I go to a proper meat shop where thy kill animals and cut into pieces. Now, I get meat which is clean and cut properly in perfect shapes from super markets. So, I am totally forgetting or ignoring about the pain or incidents behind the meat. Nobody will even think about it when yo get the food cooked in a resturant. | | | | | | |

| | Good that you have meat only once in a week. Whether it is dressed chicken or from the meat shop one should feel for the animal that is satisfying the hunger. That is what i meant as the animal's right to live. Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | hi! as i understand from that what you have typed here you are a vegetarian :) I can understand you and sometimes I really feel bad knowing that some animal was killed just to satisfied people's appetite, but you must also admit, that the meat ensures us some vitamins like Iron, Selen, B, D, which are really very important vitamins especially the Iron. So that's why I can say i am 50/50- between the vegetarians and non-vegetarians | | | | | | |

| | Yes i am pure vegan and as i have already written am not against non-vegetarians. It is basically a matter of choice. All the vitamins and iron you have mentioned are available in plenty in vegetables and cereals also. Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | I agree that animals should not be used for circus and human entertainment. Sometimes I even feel bad for the animals in zoos. But I don't see anything wrong with eating animals. We are apart of the natural food chain, and by basic eating of animals I do not think they will go extinct. However what I do think as ALOT to do with animals going extinct is that they are losing their homes. For me here in Florida they are building so much and so fast that it is constantly on the news that alligators are found in pools, and all sorts of animals are a danger to humans. We have to work on preserving their homes. | | | | | | |

| | Our care to these animals should not superimpose to our treatment with the other human beings. I'm not saying we can do anything to these animals. If you should love animals, the more you should to humanity. | | | | | | |
