All you can pretty much do is clean his eyes daily.I used to own a maltese and any long haired breed gets sleepers in their eyes.I have a lhasa apso now,and he needs his eyes cleaned daily. It's just normal for their eyes to stain. My maltese had stained eyes but I cleaned the sleepers out of them.I call it sleepers when their eyes run because I don't know what else to call it.

I have two maltese and I had the horrible stains until I used angel eyes. If you used the authentic Angel Eyes, it should have worked unless you didn't continue it long enough or add enough to your pets food.

My Maltese are very picky, and wouldn't eat their usual food with Angel Eyes mixed in, so I started giving them a couple teaspoons of whatever we had for dinner mixed with the Angel Eyes and after a few weeks, I noticed that the color of their tears were different. It won't make the stains that your dog has now go away. What it does is changes the PH of your dogs tears so as your pets hair grows out, the new hair will remain stain free. It worked so well for my dogs that I feel like I'm a walking ad for the company, but it does work, just keep at it.
