hi. cycles, bikes, cars always fascinates children. riding cycle or toy car is not so difficult. but testing your driving skills on highway or in neighbourhood is a real challenge. since i had an accident when i was 19, iam scared to drive. what about you? did you have any exciting/horrifying/funny experience when you first drove the car and how old you were?

The first ever car I drove was the one I bought second hand. That was a Maruti Van. I learnt my driving on this. I have no bad memories on this. I should have been around 32 then. The same was the case with a two-wheeler. There had been some minor accidents but that did not deter me. But recently I had an accident driving a new generation 2 wheeler, when I skid and fell. This has now given a "fear" of driving two wheeler. Perhaps I won't be driving one anymore now. I have been hurt in the knee, and though I am able to walk comfortably, I am not quite sure of taking the load on my right leg.

The first time I drove a car on my own I was 18, 2 years ago. The first time ever I was 16, here in Italy the legal age to get your driving licence is 18 years. I need to mention that the car I drove both first times were not automatic so it was funny at times how I struggled to let it start again or how I sweated when I was going uphill and a slower car made me stop and I would swear to him or her. "Do you realize how bad is it going to be for me to get the car going again??"

I started driving when I was 17. I have been a very cautious and careful driver. You can call me the old lady on the road. Having bad winters, I've went skiding and sliding on the roads into ditches. One time hit a tree and almost fell into the river. So driving has not been a passion of mine but it is a necessity. I can't get anything done with out it. My dad used to tell me that always watch your mirrors, be sure you are comfortable in your seat that you can see everywhere and never slam breaks on ice. Simple rules I adhere to and feel safe when I"m on the road.
