Just heard Marie Osmonds son commited suicide  

Suicide will someday touch most of our lives if somethings
not done to bring attention to this problem. People need to
know they are not alone, and until it's brought out and talked
about, more people suffering in silence will take there own lives.
There is help, you can feel better we have to get this message out.

I hear Marie has been having a dificult time lately. Such a tragic ting to jump to his death like that. I have know some peple who committed suicide and one of them was on medications and saw psychiatrists but actually it was the people she worked with who taunted her terribly, her supervisor did NOTHING to stop this behavior from her work peers. They would make her think she was hearing voices. A terrible way for adults to act. I did not work even in the same building when this happened and I wish I would have worked with her because I always try to stand upfor people and befriend them when they are being wronged. To anyone who wants to commit sicde I say STOP, there are people out there who care and even if it is just one person they will be heart broken and miss you for a very long time.

I also have been on meds for 10 yrs I think I'm on the forth one I've tried called Effexor, Do you mind my asking which one your on? I don't think
I've found the right one yet, I get very low still and cannot do normal everyday things. I've been having a really hard time lately seems my meds aren't working as well. I just am so tired of feeling this way. Wish more people would come out and speak up on this issue, that's the first step in getting better, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks Liz

I was on Effexor for, like, 3 days. I felt like I was in a constant hangover state. I pulled the sofa bed out in the family room and just stayed there. It was awful.

I am currently on Wellbutrin and have been for almost 10 years I think. Wellbutrin's side effects are GOOD side effects. For one it is a smoking cessation drug so I quit smoking within 3 days of taking it. Secondly there is no sexual dysfunction side effect, in fact it is the exact opposite. The only problem I had early on was having trouble sleeping at night. That's because I was taking my second dose at dinner time. I was told to take it earlier in the day, like 2pm.

I mentioned that I tried to wean off and became really tired and down... My insurance company also switched me to generic. I was in a downward spiral for about a month before someone's offhand comment about generic medication made me realize that's what my problem was. I remember sitting on my bed and my daughter coming in and asking me what was wrong. I had to tell her I honestly didn't know. I went to the doctor, she put me on "no substitutions" and within 4 days I was feeling better again. The other thing is I cannot drink alcohol while on this. I don't care to anyway. I do on occasion but if I take medication WHILE I'm drinking, watch out! I did it once and will never do it again.

Because of the problems I encountered while going off the medication, I strongly believe that I have a chemical imbalance. There is no other explanation really. I may have to be on this for the rest of my life. It's a heck of a lot better than not being on it.

And as an endnote, not every regimen works the same for everyone. We are all different. I know some people who have used Wellbutrin and had different side effects. It's a matter of trial and error.
