Please Pray For My Mum's 90 Year Old Friend. She Fell Earlier Today.:-( |
| |
| Hi Fellow MyLotters. Now, I hope you don't think I am being hypocritical asking this but if anyone is religious out there (I do believe but don't go to Church or anything) could you all pray for my Mum's friend who is in hospital right now? Any religion, I do not mind. What happened was that Annie (the lady in question) fell whilst taking some pots out of a cupboard up above her. She is very tall but does have to stretch in order to reach them but in this instance - unfortunately she fell, breaking her pelvis and her wrist, the latter in 4 places. She is not a relative of ours but is Mum's sister's ex-mother-in-law. Annie has family elsewhere who are now by her bedside in hospital. Annie has been in a lot of pain due to her wrist having to be "set" so it could be treated. My cousin Jill had to go out of the room when this was going on as she is squeemish like me. Annie is very independent, lives on her own but still relies on her family to take her shopping, that kind of thing. Her phone is her lifeline and she uses it every day. Fortunately, she had a phone where she fell too (in the kitchen) but chose to ring her daughter instead of the ambulance as she wanted to contact her first, which is fair enough as she must've been very frightened. To add to her stress she was led there for an hour and a half before she managed to contact anybody. Jill (and others) had to smash their way in through the back door as her key could not open the front one. So, all in all a stressful day for poor Annie but I do worry what will happen next due to her age. I hope that her family tell the doctors how independent she is as a Home would finish her off in a very short time. Obviously, my Mum is extremely upset...we all are. She loves her home. Could you pray for her and her family? Thank you. | | | | | |

| | My prayers are on their way to our beloved God!! I am so sorry to hear of such a terrible event! From the sound of things she was doing very well on her own except for this most recent unforeseeable accident. Depending on how her hip situation works out she might need to have someone stay with her for awhile. Maybe a part time companion for a few hours a day, every day might work. It's a hard call, my great grandmother lived quite well alone til she was 94. Baked 6 pies then went up to lie down before Church. Her dear friend who came to take her to church and her wonderful pies for after service found her sweetly resting on her bed with her 2 dogs right next to her. Being 90 is more a number these days than it used to be. Depending on her overall health, she may well be better off in an assisted living apt. My grandmother moved to one after my grandfather died since she had a bad seizure disorder. She still had her own apt and everything but medical staff was less than 5 minutes away if need be. They checked on her daily and helped with a few household things but other than that, it was her home with all her own furnishings etc. Was rather nice indeed, I used to visit her when I was in college and got a long weekend. Tho it was sad for her to sell the house, it was a blessing for all of us. I will pray that God holds her close and helps her heal well and strong! Take care!! | | | | | | |

| | Good morning Janey, Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm very sorry about Annie. She may not be a blood relative of yours, but we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Like you, I don't go to church, but I pray anywhere and everywhere, knowing that God is in every cell of my body and in every part of His creation. Good thing she had a readily accessible phone to make contact with the outside world. With the shock and pain of what happened, she felt that her daughter was the one she needed most. At 90, the healing process may not be as speedy compared to that of a 9-year old. But, we have One Refuge who makes everything possible. From the hospital she will have to stay at a Home or a Rehab Center for physical therapy. Being an independent woman, chances are she may not like this, but she will have to agree with whatever needs to be done for her recovery to re-establish her independence. This is my simple prayer for her and her loved ones and I'd like to share it with you and our friends. Lord forgive us for our sins and make us worthy to receive the urgent favors that we ask of you today. Please: 1) bless Annie and take away the pain that she is enduring now. 2) let her healing process be as speedy as possible. 3) be her Physician/Surgeon, using the doctors' hands to do all the necessary procedures for her, efficiently and effectively. 4) grant her the virtue of patience and give her the wisdom to agree with what You (through her doctors) intend to do and and agree with what You advice her to do. 5) comfort her and her loved ones and make them know that trials are part of life, that You did not let this happen to make them miserable, but to make them stronger and braver. 6)strenghthen their faith and make them realize that nothing lasts forever, that: problems get solved, the sick gets well, debts are paid, errors are fixed, after the rain, we see the sun again and so on and so forth. With gratitude and great appreciation, we say Thank You Lord. Peace be with you and your Mum. God bless you everyday, Janey! | | | | | | |

| | Hi Janey, Jeez, what a quick response! Thanks a lot. Let's not worry, but stay hopeful all the time. Worry does not help, but "gives gives a 'small' problem a bigger shadow." Yes, Haru is our dog, our pride and joy. He is bright, affectionate, sweet and loyal. On my son's bday, we sang and he did his part with a bark after each line. "Happy Birthday to you, woof, woof; happy birthday to you, woof, woof.... Now, Haru says, woof, woof or thank you for your nice words. Feeling like wanting to shed tears of joy each time you see him, I bet you must be a dog lover, too. Let's continue to pray for Annie and her loved ones. Have a great day, Janey! :) | | | |

| | Hi Janey Not only will I pray but also asking my family members to join in to help yr mum's friend; I know how difficult it is at that age as my mother and father both had similar accidents when they were nearing that age; and keep your attitude cheerful esp when you are around her and also give her good recovery hope, see that she does not get into that dejection/all-is-over mode also; ask everyone who visits her to also encourage her to speedy recovery to be normal again. Convey our best wishes and also tell her that everyone you met have conveyed the same - that will also lift up her spirits and lead to faster recovery. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Janey, we all will :) I admire the lady, at 90 wanting to be independent. :) And having the presence of mind to call her daughter instead of letting her relatives be alarmed. I think she should be ok. I dont know how cold it is out there. But the coming season is warmer, so by the time the next winter sets in, her pain would be much lesser though it would be chronic. It is nice of you to think of her so much. :) | | | | | | |

| | Oh poor Annie. Her pelvis will be the thing she dislikes having broken because it means that she must rely on others for her basic needs and nobody likes that. Our own neighbour has had a few falls too over the last year but thankfully had someone there at the time. She is also fiercely independent but has had to resign herself to being helped. | | | | | | |

| | I know, it's terrible isn't it? I have visited Annie's home on a couple of occasions and I'm not kidding you, it's like a showhome. She has no help whatsoever as she cleans, etc, all by herself. There is not one speck of dust in her house and her bed is like something out of a showroom, absolutely immaculate! She irons virtually everything and folds each garment up before folding it and placing it on tissue paper in drawers, so there are layers of clothes separated by the tissue paper. There are some things she could not do even before the fall, like cleaning behind her sofa as she cannot pull it out anymore (she has help with this with her family) so heaven knows how she must be feeling now after this setback. I am hoping that, if she does go back home that adaptations to it will help her out. At the moment she just washes instead of having a bath (very thoroughly I might add) and Mum has often suggested that she could have one of those walk-in baths. Annie took no notice! Very stubborn lol. I reckon if she DOES finally listen to those who know what they are talking about I actually think her life will IMPROVE if she chooses to stay in her house, but in the meantime her siblings will have to look after her won't they? I'm afraid what my clairvoyant said some months ago is coming true. He wasn't negative (not allowed to be) but he did mention falling and breaking wrists and said that it was probably a friend as opposed to a relative. Instantly, I thought of Annie. | | | |

| | My neighbour found the remote control electrical extension sockets were very useful because she can have the things she wants plugged into them and have the remote at easy reach. Its good for the light,TV and her heater too. They put her a special key access thin on her door so that if she cant get to the door, any of us can use the code and open her door with the key. She go that after had a little panic when she locked herself out but my other neighbour had a spare key to get her back indoors. Sadly she is in the nursing home now so we might not see very much of her. She is 100 and keeps falling as her balance has gone. | | | |
