Has anyone ever used soy candles? |
| |
| My wife's birthday is coming up and I'm trying to think of unique gift to give her. She really likes candles and has some in every room. She uses them when she takes a bath, when she does the dishes, and even when she watches TV sometimes. So I was trying to find some cool candles or something to get her, and I read something about soy candles, but I don't know anything about them. I know soy is kind of a new hippie food and that they make soy milk, soy burgers, and other stuff, but I didn't know they make soy candles ( http://www.candlemarketplace.com/ ). Can anyone tell me about soy candles? Are they supposed to be better than regular candles? Or are they for people who have allergies to normal candles or something? I mean, I'd like to get my wife something nice for her birthday, not just like regular tea light candles. Being a guy, I don't know much about candles. Thanks. | | | | | |

| | i have used them and they are pretty much like wax candles, except they seem to burn a little cleaner and last a little longer. you can get pretty much any scent in soy that you could have in wax. i suggest you take a look at etsy.com and check out the ones there! | | | | | | |

| | I ONLY use soy! I get headaches from storebrands. I order mine through Melaleuca. I absolutely love them. AND, they are safe to eat! As weird as that is.... | | | | | | |

| | Wow, this topic just opened my mind on something I have never known, I have always thought that there are only 2 types of candle, the wax and the oil. I didn't know that there was a soy candle. I think it's not available in our country. How do you determine if it's really soy without labels? Is there a particular grade or color or scent to determine such? | | | | | | |

| | The wax of soy candles will feel a little oily, and when melted takes longer to harden up. | | | |

| | Hi Laydee, I'm make Soy Candles to sell online and off, We order Soy wax, I don't think someone would say that they are using Soy wax and not. It's very affordable and Doesn't cost a fortune, I have been making Soy candles since Oct. 2009, I love making them. Soy wax is very creamy it also helps supports American farmers as well and its skin safe and come with other benefits as well. | | | |

| | I have had a few spy candles. They seem to last longer and don't burn away as fast. Also they burn cleaner, not as much residue of the glass the candle is in and when you blow out the flame not as much smoke escapes from the wick. I bought a couple about 2 or 3 years ago but I have not seen any recently that I can reall. Check out Wal mart, they have a large display of candles. | | | | | | |

| | If your wife burns candles frequently, then you should definitely try soy candles. Most candles are made of paraffin wax, which is a petroleum product. Petroleum is a non-renewable resource, and burning it is harmful for your air quality. For one thing, it creates soot, and for another thing it can release chemicals and toxins into your air. Soy, on the other hand, is a renewable resource. It burns bright and clean, with very little to no soot and no harmful toxins released into your air (assuming that it is pure soy without additives). It's a much better option for your indoor air quality, especially since it sounds like you have candles burning in your home pretty frequently. Look for soy candles that are naturally scented (i.e. with essential oils, not chemical perfume). Well-made soy candles also tend to last longer than paraffin wax candles. | | | | | | |
