International Women's Day  

I say the world still has a long way to go. In many countries and cultures women are still treated as nothing more than property; and, they face abuse and death on a daily basis. This is stupid behavior. The most advanced countries utilize their entire workforce (men and women both). Any society that mistreats and ignores half (or more) of their population will never get ahead.

Some parts of the world are finally starting to get things more equal between the genders; but, even they have not overcome all of the gender based stereotypes. These are things that improve with each generation as more women prove their worth and as more men take on a greater nurturing role.

Obviously, some things cannot be changed - only women can give birth; but, just because a women gives birth does not make her a good mother and many men would prefer to stay home and take care of their home and family but they are still looked down on if they do this.

Two things that are different can never be equal but they should have the same opportunity. One should no be given prefernce. The idea behind america was that everyon had the same oppertunity ot find their own success. Raising children should be a joint effort.
