Same topic: Respond to old one or start new discussion?

I thought of a topic to discuss here but I saw that there were already 2 discussions of the exact same topic. As much as I would love to respond to those two, the last response in one of them is 3 years ago while the other's last response is 12 months ago. I understand that we should not repeat the same topics here in myLot, but I think it would be useless to respond to very old topics that no one would read. In the first place, we are here to discuss too and not just post anywhere. What would you do, would you respond to those old and dead discussion posts or start a new one even if it's exactly the same topic? Thanks for reading and happy myLotting!

I would respond and boost its popularity back up. i know it seems pointless, but they encourage the revivel of old topics rather then repeating to the same topic over and over again because someone didn't take the time to pay attention to what they were doing.

Oh, I see now. Responding to old topics actually help revive them and could let others see it easily, making more participants again. Thanks for your helpful response! I've been wondering about this.

I respond on old topics. When they receive new activity they are visible again and others will respond and comment on them too. They appear in 'recent' and in 'similar topics' depending on how they are tagged. Wherever we post we earn so I see no point in starting another topic if it is not original, just like mylot asks too.

Don't get American Idol over here so it wouldn't create a problem I saw Crash too. My response was how I, me, myself personally deal with said matter.

Thank you for your response! I see. That would be a good way to bring back currently inactive members. And in the first place, it's under myLot guidelines. Thanks again.

Then of course it's up to you... It always seems like me and Lamb put others in difficulty when we both say the same thing differently

Hi, friend. I understand it's quite a dilemma cause I've experienced this several times. A great idea occurred to me and I was very excited about it. Before I started the discussion, I searched to see if there were similiar discussions. The result was that the topic had been discussed already a long time ago. So I had to think about whether I should start such a discussion even if there's the chance of its being deleted. And when I did start it, it ended up being deleted, as happened to me just yesterday. I thought the similar discussion had become a relic and perhaps I could start a new one as well. But this morning, I received a notification from mylot informing me that the discussion I started was deleted because it had already been discussed numerous times. I was a little bit angry. Why can't we just discuss on the same topic for over one time? It's true that many mylotters may have involved in that old discussion, but it does not mean all of them had. Mylot population is growing increasingly day by day. The newcomers can still participate in this new discussion. Well, this is just my thoughts.

hi enslinporter, you have both chances to start new discussion and you can respond to old one means old discussion, you can give response to one discussion,if you post a discussion, you may get plenty of responses and you have to give plenty of comments and response,so think which is better for you, have a nice day

If the topic is old then I won't respond to it. There's not much quality discussion when the person who started the discussion and all the people who intially responded to it have forgotten all about it. I think you can always bring something new to the same discussion even if you have to start a new one.
