Is it a domestic violence? | | | | So everybody or almost everybody has heard about Tiger Woods. I do not want to discuss what he did. But what I would like to discuss is his wife's reaction. I cannot possibly imagine how she felt. However what is puzzling me is that she has hit him with a golf club (allegedly) and chip his tooth and nobody has said anything negative (or I have not heard anything) about that. Many women Im sure would say he deserved that. Being a woman myself I think there is a lot of hypocrasy in our society towards domestic violence. If it would be man who would do that to a woman, he would be shamed immediately. But why is it that women hitting a man is hardly ever talked about? As I said I am not here to discuss the reasons, I would like to hear from people on the hitting part. I am giving TW example as it's the most recent one. Many thanks for your opinions ;-) | | | | | | | | | | Domestic Looking For Domestic? Find It Nearby With Local.com! Local.com

| | I would say that it is definitely domestic violence if she really hit him with a golf club and chipped his tooth. I do not think that it is alright for either a woman or a man to do that. However, I think there have been cases where a guy has hit the wife and punched the lover when he caught the wife cheating and no charges were ever filed, although these were not highly publicized cases involving "stars" like this one was. If Tiger's wife had been caught cheating, and he had hit her, then I am not sure whether or not circumstances would have been different, but I think that if it were only a slap with his hand then probably there would not have been much said about it. On the other hand, if he had attacked her with a gold club and chipped her tooth, even if he had caught her cheating, then I think it would have been different. Unfortunately, I think that there is definitely a double-standard, because women are viewed as "weaker" and therefore can get away with more physical violence than a man. Then again, one of my friends started a discussion last week about a teenage girl that was arrested and had to spend the night in jail for slapping a teenage boy, so I have absolutely no idea how these things are determined. I think mostly it is about who is willing to press charges and not about whether or not the action itself was acceptable. | | | | | | | | trusko (60)

| | Actually it hasn't been talked about because she didn't hit him. He even stated that in his apology that she never attacked him. Whether or not thats true, or a cover up, it has been officially stated that she never hurt him in anyway. However, I do agree in a way about how when women hit men it is kind hypocrytical. A guy makes an jackass of himself or says the wrong thing, most women feel they have the right to slap him or push him or throw things or whatever. But if a guy did that to a woman he would immediately be shamed. I think it is because a man is bigger and stronger so they can do more damage to women.. whereas if a woman hurts a man its really only a matter of their pride and ego and nothing truly physical. That is a good question though. I've been guilty of slapping two men in my life. One of them.. well.. one of them it was more of a slap to get his senses straight (because he was gonna do drugs and I was trying sooo hard to get him to stop). But the other time.. I had thought my current boyfriend was cheating on me. And I felt hurt, stupid, confused, angry... And I took that out on him. Only to find out he wasn't cheating it was jsut a really bad situation. But lets think about it.. men feel too. How many times do you think a man has felt hurt, stupid, confused, and angry but didn't reign upon us physically. Hm.. very interesting question. | | | | | | | purplealabaster (3666)

| | "I think it is because a man is bigger and stronger so they can do more damage to women.. whereas if a woman hurts a man its really only a matter of their pride and ego and nothing truly physical." This is definitely the stereo-type, and I am sure that there are many cases where this is true. However, all men are not bigger and stronger just as all women are not physically weak. There are women out there that can do real physical damage to guys when they hit them, and it is not right for them to do it any more than it is right for a guy to hit a girl - it is abuse either way. | | | | | | | Find Cheap Flights Here Compare Top Travel Sites.
