Again Pitbull dogs are forming packs and attacking farm animals. When I hear this I feel nothing but sad, I know that we would have to shoot them if they came near our animals, but my sadness is due to the fact that humans are responsible for these poor dogs running wild. Man made this breed to suit his fancy, man has raised these dogs and for whatever reason has not proved to be a responsible master. So now the rest of us have to solve this problem and the poor dogs must pay the price. There is something so unfair about this, it makes me cry.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having problems with any dog. You are right about man has caused this. Why anyone would do this is beyond me, animals only know what they are taught. If any dog is left unattended it will get with other animals and will do whatever necessary to eat. I know it would hurt you very bad to have to shoot one or all if necessary but you do have to protect what is yours. About six years ago my husband and I were riding on our 4-wheeler and ran upon a pack of dogs three of which were pitbulls and six others that were mixed they came at us full force and I know in my heart that they would have attacked because they did try. My husband shot in the air and it didn't stop them at all. They just kept running toward us. My husband had to do what was necessary for our safety. I cried anyway because this had to happen as if the owners would have kept them or taken them to the pound instead of dropping them to fend for themselves this would not have happened. I wish you the best of luck with this situation. Where are the dogs coming from or do you have no idea.

In one case it was the farm's own dogs that got at the horses. In the other case no one seemed to know where they came from. We have dogs with our animals but they are never with the Llamas unless we are there and we keep very firm control. All it takes is for a herd animal to start running and one dog to chase, then they all join in. This is why you have to control your animals. If you want dogs around herd animals you get herding ones not pitbulls.

Wild dogs have always seemed to be a problem, people abandoning them, and the dogs forming packs just as it is in their nature. It is sad, and yours is the most sympathetic and sad response I have ever seen about this ongoing problem. I had chow dogs dig under my rabbit house and break the necks of my large Lop rabbits with one little shake. The young man who owned them got a slap on the wrist.

Pit bulls are a very sad topic. People that choose to have these dogs should take responsibility for them. I do mean proper training and attention. I have known some very sweet pit bulls but I have known some that have been very mean too. It is a sad situation with that breed.

Too bad nothing will be done to this owner and he will just get some more and not take care of them. I have a Pit Bull mix she was abused when I got here. Now she is spoiled rotten and a angel. She loves animals and people. The first time I took her to the vet I asked what do I need to do so she won't attack anyone. He told me just get her used to people and other dogs and she will be fine. People need to be more responsible and take care of their animals. This can be any type of dog to get into a pack and attack other animals. All dogs are animals and they see farm animals as prey. Not all Pit Bulls are vicious animals the blame falls on the owners who are not responsible and they need to be held accountable. I think anyone who has a ANY DOG and it is attacking they need to be banned from having any type of dogs. I have had my dog for 10 years and she has never attacked anyone. Please don't think all Pit Bull owners don't care there are a lot of us who shower our dogs with love and they give that love back. I am sorry the farm animals are getting attacked. Keep on the owner and see what can you do to enforce him keeping the dogs in a fenced area so they won't get out. Not only to harm the farm animals but to also save their life as well. Good luck

I know exactly what you mean. Pitbulls are lovely dogs and can be very good pets if raised properly. Unfortunately, very sick men usually want these dogs to showcase their macho crap and they make them mean. I think men like that should be imprisoned for life so they won't subject anyone else or any other animal to their sick ways. Can't your local dogcatcher get them and put them in a shelter? Even euthanasia would be more humane than someone shooting them. I hope they don't pay you a visit. I saw some alpacas on Sunday and thought about your dear llamas. I certainly don't want to hear of them being hurt or frightened.

These are called farrow dogs here and they are very dangerous. When times are bad and people loose their homes many times they just let their dogs go free, the ones that do not die often join in packs and of course they kill to eat. The basic cause of this is human, owners do not live up to their responsibility and take proper care of dogs they can no longer keep. If nothing else can be done these animals need to be killed in a painless humain way so that they do not become the problem to others. No one like to kill their pets but they also have no right to pass the problem of care off to others who do not wish it.
