How much do you read at a time?  

I usually read one nonfiction and one fiction book at a time. Right now, for example, I am reading a collection of horror and pulp fiction stories by H P Lovecraft, and the book Sin and Syntax by Constance Hale (to improve my own writing, of course!)

It definitly depends on the book. In high school I remember one of the required reading was "the scarlett letter." And I remember how surprised I was that O enjoyed it. Years later, I decided to reread it. I didn't make it past the first page.
"Carrie," by Stephen King is one book I read in one sitting. And I believe In read "Jaws" in either one or two sittings. "It," another book by Stephen King, is one In read in two weeks and that was a thick book. I spoke to some people who took a month reading it. I recently read "Velocity," by Dean Koontz, a book that to me was excellent! I read that in about a month, maybe less. It was very fast moving. from there I went to "Flowers in the Attic." (Yup, my first time reading it.) I started reading it September, 2009. I still haven't finished it. It was just so much slower moving than velocity. I am almost done and will probably be finishing it within the next few days.

Like in one sitting? It would depend on how much I'm enjoying the book and how much time I have available. I just finished the last Percy Jackson book after reading it for five hours straight. I read the whole book. But then again I didn't have anywhere to go or anywhere to be. Sometimes I'll only sit for ten minutes at a time and only get a dozen pages read. I usually read on the go, since I ride the train to class I read there. I read in my few spare minutes between classes. I usually finish a 300 page novel in one to two days.

Generally, I read a book for 30 minutes to an hour before I go to sleep. Sometimes, if the story is really interesting, I am compelled to stay up all night until I finish it. There are times too that I stop reading books several chapters into them if I find them boring.

I don't have the any choice as fiction or non-fiction.I enjoy both equally. In fictions I like John Grishm, Michel Chricton. How much of the book I read at a time depends upon how much I enjoy that book. I usually try to finish the book which I start. But there were couple of books, I could not finish because I really got bored of it.

If I read a book that I really like I find it hard to put it down, and sometimes I read for several hours. If I am reading a book that I dont like that much I only read for a short time. I like to borrow books at the library, and I usually read a bit about the book, before I choose to borrow it, but sometimes I get disappointed in the book and find it hard to read, and in those cases I don't finish the book. Last time I went to the library I borrowed a book that sounded interesting, but when I started reading it was full of violence and disgusting details, and I didn't finish it.

It depends on the book. There are times when I'll read all the way through a book of more then 200 pages because I just cant put it down. I'll read for hours just to finish it. The longest I've gone at one time was reading for over 12 hours straight. I eventually had to go to bed and pick it back up in the morning. Other times I'll read a chapter, then take a break, then come back and continue repeating the process.
