Here is the full story http://www.kdvr.com/news/sns-ap-co--unemploymentcolorado,0,1612306.story DENVER (AP) — Labor officials say Colorado experienced its first year over year drop in the number of job seekers since October 2007 with 209,800 people looking for work last month, compared with 211,700 in March 2009. Labor officials say the jobless rate in March was 7.9 percent, up 0.2 percent from February's 7.7 percent. Executive director of the state's Department of Labor and Employment Donald Mares says an improving economy encouraging more people to enter the workforce contributed to the unemployment rate. Adjusting for seasonal differences, there were 2.44 million working Coloradans last month, compared with 2.52 million a year before. The federal government led the way in growth with its hiring of temporary Census workers, while construction showed the biggest decline with 2,600 lost jobs. Here is where my confusion comes in Labor officials say the jobless rate in March was 7.9 percent, up 0.2 percent from February's 7.7 percent. Executive director of the state's Department of Labor and Employment Donald Mares says an improving economy encouraging more people to enter the workforce contributed to the unemployment rate. huh? so the unemployment rate going up is due to the improving economy? The federal government led the way in growth with its hiring of temporary Census workers, But the unemployment numbers are up while construction showed the biggest decline with 2,600 lost jobs. Your stimulus money at work They manipulate numbers constantly. I dont know how they can say this stuff with a straight face.

an improving economy encouraging more people to enter the workforce contributed to the unemployment rate. Laglen I am trying to wrap my brain around this. Jobless numbers went up by 0.2% and this is because the economy improved which encouraged people to enter the workforce. Sorry cannot help you with this one, and do not think anyone could.

This is a page out of the President Carter play book. He entered the office with an inflation rate of lets say 8% the rate went up to about 16% and when he was running for reelection he claimed to have gotten inflation under control because it was 14%. Now the economy is getting better because the number of new applicants for unemployment is not going up as fast. I remember when the unemployment rate was 4.2% and it went up to 4.35% and the Democrats thought this was the worst thing that could happen and of course it was all President Bush's fault. Congress passed a nearly 1 trillion dollars Stimulus package to keep unemployment under 8%. Who is to blame for the new Unemployment numbers?

Well isnt that clear? It is George Bush's fault. And now we can also blame the ash from Iceland. Then there was Easter, that was to blame too.

I think what they mean when they say, "an improvement," is that it's not so bad as they were expecting. Or it could mean this is what they want so we'll be more dependent on the government. Or maybe they're just stupid and don't know that unemployment going up is not a good thing.
