i have fibromyalgia so have pain day in day out,so when i developed a pain in my elbow a few weeks ago i thought it was that, the pains been gradually getting worse and worse,so when i went to the doctors today for a medication review i also mentioned my elbow, and how much it was annoying me,the doc checked it out and said that i have tennis elbow,i don't know how i got it as i don't do much due to my medical conditions, anyway,i said that i'd try rest and pain relief but that didn't work,so i now have to have a cortisone injection tomorrow morning,,it's going to hurt like hell, but at least my partner and kids will have to look after me as i've been told not to use my arm for 24 hours

I have had the cortizone treatments too. I can't handle cortizone. But you will be fine but you will always be plagued with the elbow. Sorry sweetie, but life if fact. Hang in there, quita

The inflammation in your elbow will come and go and mostly depending on the weather and the activities you do. The elbow will be fine off and on for the rest of your life unless you never use it! It's all part of being human sweetie. Hugs, quita

My dad got tennis elbow several years ago. But even after his diagnosis he wouldn't take anything to get rid of the pain. I think I saw him take Ibuprofen once. That wouldn't be my approach!

It didn't help him either. I'm glad you have enough sense to do something about it.

doormouse that injection of cortisone will not hurt at all, I had one in each knee for severe arthritis and the doctor put some sort of cold salve on my knee, waited awhile then cleansed my knee with alcolhol and injected the cortizone into my knee and I did not feel any pain, only the pressure of the syringe as it was a slow injection. it really is not painful and the best part in a little while the elbow will quit hurting. it really does work.yep now your partner and your kids will have to baby mom for a change. good luck and God bless.

Tennis elbow takes a long time to get better. I was diagnosed in January and it has only now gotten to where it feels good more than it feels bad.

I had the same injection years ago in my wrist and it was a bit painful while they were doing it, but afterwards it made it alot better. My wrist problem was due to repetitve strain as i worked in a factory.I had the chance of having the op done on my hands and i chose not to as at the time i could not afford the time off work aswell as that i had a baby that needed me to pick up and look after and had noone to help me out.Good luck.
