| | I didn't think I would like Matt because David Tennant just plays the part with such conviction. In all fairness I think the new Doctor is good, he has his own little quirks and some that are still from David Tennant. | | | | | | |

| | no matt is really boring and uninteresting as a doctor. not to mention tennant was way more handsome. and smith doesn't have enough experience to carry out a bad script | | | |

| | each doctor tends to be at least a little different and it may take a little time to get use to him. I wasn't sure that I was going to like David Tennant, now I miss him. I see some things in Matt White that make him seem like an easier transition. one thing to consider, is it the actor that you don't think you like or is is the plot line that makes him seem so different. | | | | | | |

| | I haven't seen the show yet. I record shows on a DVR and watch them later. Since I record a lot of shows, I record shows like Dr. Who the second or third time they are shown. | | | |

| | well, there are complaints that Amy is kind of a "Wesley Crusher" doing all these things herself - but honestly, The Doctor has had a history of once he decides on a course of action, not always seeing any alternatives, more so with Doctor 1 than some of the later ones. I like Matt, I think he's going to bring a lot of energy to the role - but of course, I loved Tom Baker's Doctor, so I'm really old school! | | | | | | |

| | They have done some shows in the past where they've brought back several of the Doctor's but I don't know how they could explain it since each doctor metamorphs into the next one. The old doctors theoretically should not exist. (The first Doctor I saw was Tom Brown way back in 1978-79.) | | | |

| | That would've been Tom Baker - actually, no, there is no reason that the other Doctor's don't exist - they just aren't supposed to exist in the same time plane... tho I never really saw why not in their way of doing things... There was the 10 anniversary show with William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee called The Three Doctors. Then the 20th show, called The Five Doctors, tho they only had some takes from an episode that wasn't finished to take Tom Baker from, it also had Richard Hurndall as the first Doctor since Hartnell had died about 2 years after the filming of The Three Doctors. Then, during Collin Baker's tenure as the Doctor, there was a show called The Two Doctors with Patrick Troughton. | | | |

| | The Doctor just goes to lengths to not hit the same time stream or place he has before, plus he has seen that before, where would the fun in it be? The Doctor has been in the same place at the same time before as stated above. Really the thing is more that time is relative to the Doctor, each previous version of the Doctor existed and still looks like he did at the time, it's just like how you don't look the same as you did when you were a child. The child version of you doesn't exist anymore, but it still happened and isn't taken out of existence. | | | |

| | I don't know if I like him yet. it took me awhile to get used to the others as well. I have been watching The Doctor since the show first came to America. It started out with an older man and his niece and have had many changes since. Some I've like some i just stopped watching until a new Doctor started. In fact I just bought a tee shirt that says "I'm the Doctor, you can trust me". What I have wonder is why the Doctor with all the woman hes had ride with him never had a child. Whit him being the last of his race wouldn't you think he would at least try to keep some of the race alive. | | | | | | |

| | Hi sahm35. Any time there is a regeneration and a change of Doctor it can be hard to adjust. I took to Eccleston straight away simply because Doctor Who had been off our screens for so long and I thought he was great. I was not happy when he left so early on but his replacement with David was spot on and I warmed too him very quickly. David became the Doctor for a new generation and anyone replacing him would have big shoes to fill. I have to say I think Matt is doing a good job but I have not really warmed as quickly to him, the way I did with David. We have have seen four episodes over here and heading for the fifth this weekend and I have to say Matt does grow on you even if it slowly. | | | | | | |

| | Tom Baker was the Doctor I grew up with and he will always be one of the best. I never really cared for Davidson and the less said about McCoy the better in my opinion. I won't give you any spoilers but the third episode was the weakest of the episodes so far in my book, but the fourth one has picked up the pace again. | | | |

| | I absolutely love Matt Smith as the Doctor. I was a bit worried same as everyone else, especially with some of the names rumored to be named the Doctor. Smith's Doctor won me over once he stepped towards the alien at the end of his first episode and said "I'm the Doctor", he has made the character his own very quickly and seems alien, old, and still has this youth to him. I also like how he's taken this professor like persona, trying to teach Amy in the process. As for the space whale, the issue is that he didn't think of the compassion angle, he was unable to see something that was obvious to Amy, that the space whale was just like the Doctor. This Doctor seems to be less introspective, the last two Doctors have been very introspective, Eccelston was quite introverted in ways, hard against the world due to having to end the Time War. Tennant continued this, being more open with his emotions then Eccelston, and constantly losing those close to him, this Doctor seems to have leaped into his head more then his heart, probably a bit of a reaction to deal with the heartache and loneliness he has faced in his last incarnation. Also, this isn't the first time one of the companions has saved the day or seen the solution first, and I doubt it will be the last. | | | | | | |

| | I guess that I like people that are introspective then.. I loved your response.. Thanks. Where are you from? UK too? | | | |

| | Nothing wrong with that, everyone's taste in what Doctor they prefer is different. I did very much enjoy both Eccelston and Tennant. Really Smith had to be a big move away from Tennant, as he gained such a huge fan base (very deservedly) if Smith just imitated Tennant the whole time or had too many similar attributes people would continue to compare him to what came before. He did have some Tennant qualities in the first episode while he was still "cooking". I just think Smith has hit the ground running and has made the character his own, plus I've loved the stories (even the not as great Victory of the Daleks episode). But then again Doctor Who always makes me feel like a kid when watching it and I just let the sense of wonder keep me going. As for your question, no I am not in the UK, I download the episodes as they air and watch them a second time when they are on BBCA during one of the many replays they have, I would rely on BBCA alone if they didn't keep editing little bits out in the replays, it is only a few lines, but it bugs me to no end knowing the scene was a little bit longer. That and lacking the ability to wait the extra time. I do pick up seasons when I can to make up for it, I want the show to continue and give money when I can. | | | |

| | I liked the Dalek episode, no, it might not have been as strong an episode as some but it was still good - heck, lets consider some of the "clunkers" of the past. I agree that Smith's Doctor is less compassionate than some of his previous incarnations, but then again, think of Eccleston's Doctor - he was happy if things worked out well (The Doctor Dances) but he was also going to be willing to kill that poor dying dalek too. | | | |

| | Yes, I think he is fantastic, very quirky and he has all the little characteristics of the Doctor that I love - the bumbling bits, the caring, sometimes not understanding people's emotions (as he's really an alien himself), an otherworldlyness. I think he is PERFECT in the role! | | | | | | |

| | Yes, the episode said River Song was in jail for murder and when the Doctor asked who she had murdered, she said "a good man" and the inference was that she had killed him. She will be back for the finale so we may find out more then. | | | |

| | He has his moments. I mean in the first episode he was good with the whole fish custard thing(expecally when he threw the plate with butter toast and yelled "and stayout"). I mean he seems to really be getting into the Dr. role so far. I mean he is no 10th doctor, but to tell you the truth it took me a bit to warm up to the 10th doctor after the 9th. | | | | | | |

| | I think I like the actor, but I don't think I very much like the scripts. I haven't seen very many episodes but the ones I have seen I've been very disappointed in. I think Matt's a fabulous Doctor, but that can't save a season. Then again no matter how fabulous he is he'll never be Pertwee. | | | | | | |

| | You might be right! I think that I liked the other director as well. You liked Jon Pertwee? LOL...really. That's interesting... LOL We all have our favorites. Was he the first dr that you've ever seen? I heard some writers that said that when people say that they LOVED a particular Dr. its usually because that was the first one that they were acquaited with. It holds up because Tom Baker is the best for me and the first. | | | |

| | My first Doctor was actually Eccleston. :) Pertwee was the third I think, which is a funny coincidence. I do think for most people their favorite is their first though, because that's been the case with most people I've talked to. | | | |
