doctor has annoyed me |
| |
| as i said in yesterdays discussion i was meant to have a cortizone injection today for my tennis elbow, well the doctor who suggested it was completly full this week and on holiday next week,so i got an appointment with another gp,the only gp i don't like,so i went to see him and said what the other doc told me,he said i couldn't have the jab,as my elbow is only a mild inconvenience in my life, and i should use anti inflamatory pain relief gel,i said i'd taken oral anti inflamatories and tried resting it,but it wasn't working, that's why the other gp said to have the jab,,so i said, look i've had this for nearly 3 months,it's getting worse and it's NOT a mild inconvenience it's painfull 24 7,he still said NO,so i complained to my other doc,he was not happy that i wasn't given the jab,and that i was only given gel that wouldn't work anyway,so,he said to wait til he gets back from his hols and he'll give me my jab, bless my lovely gp hiss that other gp,he was going to leave me in pain for up to 10 months, which is apparantly how long it could take to heal,,hiss hiss, boo boo | | | | | |

| | Wow... I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles! That seems very wrong that they would let you endure that kind of pain. I personally have never had a permenent doctor and do not exactly know your woes. Though it is very hard to get ANY kind of medical treatmeent with my circumstances. I've been told over and over again that my issues aren't even serious enough to be seen! How do they know? They can't feel what I feel! Same as they don't know your individual pain! I wish you the best of luck. Maybe if your insurance covers independent clinics you can have it done there. It doesn't hurt to shop around. | | | | | | |

| | I'm in Colorado, so I don't think I'm familiar with 'NHS'? But here there are a few clinics that charge sliding scale, and some are free. It's all based on your circumstance and income. good luck to you. | | | |

| | you have to watch those cortisone shots, because when you aren't hurting, you tend to over do but if you know this and then get the shot, then its still up to you to take care of it, even tho it isn't hurting, it is still damaged. | | | | | | |

| | I am really sorry you are having this problem both with your elbow AND with the numbskull doctor. I can relate very well on both issues. I have tendonitis (tennis elbow) from a job I used to have and it is extremely painful, at least mine was. Do you have an aircast for it? That gave me more relief than anything and I always keep one on hand now because once that damage is done, it doesn't take much to make it flare up again. The aircast is an adjustable wrap with velcro and a pillow filled with air that sits on the muscle that pulls on that tendon. They're not very expensive, either. You can get one on eBay for under $20 including shipping or maybe find one at a medical supply place. The doctor you saw who wouldn't help you is something I've gone through over and over again. I had endometriosis, had 3 surgeries for it in 3 years and the last time the surgeries weren't even a year apart and it took almost 8 hours to get it all out. My doctor had waved his hand in dismissal at me and told me these were just *women's problems*, that I might have a touch of endometriosis and that I needed to *suck it up* and *stop wasting his time with all my whining*. And actually, it was only after I collapsed at work and was transported to the hospital via emergency squad that he would even concede that I might have a touch of endo! The *touch* of endo was on my spine, every internal organ, on my lungs and a good bit of intestines. I also have fibromyalgia, and when I first started having serious problems with it, I had that same doctor and it was the same story. He flat out told me I was a hypochondriac and attention seeker. I hope now that so much more information is available, he feels like a complete idiot over how he talked to me. That's IF he's still a doctor....I rather imagine he's had the pants sued off him a few times by now. Karmic justice would be that he digs ditches for a living these days.... I guess it doesn't matter where you live, there are doctors who graduated in the bottom 50% of their class and/or who were arrogant azzes even before they were doctors. I think before anyone gets admitted to medical school, they should have to undergo thorough psychological testing to see if they're emotionally fit to do the job. If they're devoid of empathy or even sympathy, they should be directed to the nearest sewage plant to work. | | | | | | |
