As some of you know, we are engaged in a fight of the HST.
The HARMONIZED SALES TAX.
And right now, British Columbian's are signing a petition that is about to make history.
The requirement to get the signatures of 10% of the voters, in each of 85 constituencies is already tough enough. But we don't even get a copy of the voters list. So we have to slug it out and get 15% just to make sure.
The BC Liberal government never thought it possible. The NDP who never dreamed it could be done when they drafted the legislation, is joining in the fight too.
My hope is that the rest of Canada will rise up and demand the right to TELL politicians what they ARE or ARE NOT going to do. And to fire sloppy members of the legislature for lack of listening and lack of service.
The BC Refederation Party also has joined the fight. We believe in democracy and are going to give it to the people if elected.
1. DIRECT DEMOCRACY in place first sitting after we are in government. That is to control US. So much do think politicians are out of control, we will put the leash on FIRST.
2. WRITTEN CONSTITUTION. Because we are not so foolish to believe we are always going to be forming government, we think there should be a written constitution to control other politicians too. Just once and we will have screwed up politics for politicians...forever.
3. And while we are doing all that, we are going after the feds for all our stuff. For too long Canadians have been abused by an unfair and unequal government for Canadians.
Canada was formed by the provinces to address matters of national importance and was designed to serve the provinces. Well, it doesn't and we let it happen.
BC Refed will give back that power to the provinces.
What do think of that platform? Is it something you might want?

Wow. I'm from the US, and I wish we were doing the same thing - taking back our country. It seems like we have a rash of arrogance in the "ruling class" of politics everywhere.
A warning, though. Just because you have a written constitution is no guarantee that politicians will adhere to it. Ours have trashed our written documents and continue to undermine them. The people must be continually alert to protect themselves from government.
I wish you the best.

There isn't a single politician anywhere that isn't so above human failings. Therefore, all politicians must come with a leash.
And vigilance must be maintained. You are right to say so.
