Primates, like humans, can be left or right handed? |
| |
| All the more perplexing , then ,that creatures across animal kingdom-including mammals, birds, fish and invertebrates-prefer to use one paw, eye or even antenna for certain tasks, even though they may be let down in crucial situations by their weaker side.We human beings use both hands ,but some of us are right handed or left handed, but do think that in primates, like human , can be left handed or right handed? | | | | | |

| | I think any animal can be left handed or right handed. Or maybe left legged or right legged. It is sure not of equal strength or usefulness. It is how we choose. We choose to use our right hand to write, to pick things up. like us primates need to pick things up, and they won't do it with both hands all the time. They would be right or left handed like we do. They will grab the item with one hand. Which is the hand they prefer using rather than the other. | | | | | | |

| | I guess it can be possible. They can be right or left handed. They're primates and humans too are from primates so i guess it's possible. | | | | | | |

| | yes. I'm very sure that animals have a certain hand that they use the most. Its not a human characteristic. | | | | | | |

| | I think that this is definitely the case in other primates. There is a lot of genetic similarities between human beings and orangutans, I think it would be only natural that they would have a handedness. The handedness of a person is controlled by the opposite site of their brain, so an individual that is right handed primarily uses the left side of their brain while the opposite is true in a person that is left handed. Based on this fact, I would also venture to guess that the majority of the animal population would be right handed as well. | | | | | | |
