What Do You Think Of African American Hair? |
| |
| I have been thinking about the Chris Rock movie: Good Hair, and as an African American women I think my hair is beautiful but once and a while I like to make it a little more manageable. I think people should have their hair however they want to have it want it. If they like it the way it is than they don't need to do anything with it. How about you? What's your opinion on African American hair? | | | | | |

| | I have a 3 year old GGranddaughter with this hair and she is such a little thing that if we don't get her hair cut often it over powers her. It seems like we need to spend more time fixing her hair than any of the other children without this hair. Thank goodness they make many products that help maintain black hair and keep it from getting dry or matted. After taking care of this hair for a while I can see why dred locks are popular. | | | | | | |

| | lol. dread locks are popular??I usually don't use a lot of products for my hair. I like using this protein stuff in my hair and then straightening it so that it will be silky. | | | |

| | Wow I am very sorry about what happened to you at the hair salon. This is a very brave thing that you are doing here with just leaving your hair the way it is with no chemicals. I don't think I could do it,when I wash and condition my hair it goes back to it's natural state. Which is way to hard for me to manage, so I have to re-straighten it. I very rarely use any chemicals though. | | | |

| | I rented Good Hair about a month ago. I had NO idea what women with African descent went through with their hair! I went to school with a lot of black children. Looking back, the girls must have went through that process they showed in the movie, the one that makes their hair straight. Back then I didn't know that. No wonder so many of my African American classmates did their hair in braids or something. I would hate to go through the straightening process, or pay so much for a weave! The cost of the weave stunned me. It just doesn't seem fair to charge so much. I wish people didn't feel a need to do their hair any certain kind of way. It would be great if we all could love what we were born with. I'd like to be able to shave my head and walk out of my apartment without fearing ridicule! It would definitely cool me off in the summer! | | | | | | |

| | lol i am definitely with you on the bald hair thing! Yes weaves and tracks can be very expensive, and I think in the movie someone was behind on their rent because of the rent cost? I would never sacrifice my home for a weave! Yes and I believe everyone should love the hair they were born with, but I also think it is okay to change it up a little bit, every once in a while and straighten it or get a weave put in | | | |
