ya vijay played just one good innings and called for international cricket, look the case with australians, they make a international call only after having some fair experience in domestic cricket.

when bretlee was injured did they call dough bolinger, no they didnt pick him even though he performed well in IPL, instead they took reyn harris.
and reyn harris was also not given the chance to play against india, they picked jonson over him.
australians always make very good selection, inidans always make atleast 2 or 3 bad selections.

the main disadvantage in indian selection is that indian selectors make the team selection very early, that should not be done.

And the selection of Umesh Yadav shows our lack of pace options. You may support Irfan, but the fact is he lost his sharpness.

when you back vijay, where is his talent.
did he perform, a good player grab the chance with two hands, what did vijay do?
he played only one innings nicely that too against afgan a low standard team in world cricket.
When you dont give chance to Uthappa, when he is running in a superb form, how can he prove you that he can play.
in the first t20 world cup Uthappa performed very nicely, his contribution was very much use ful for india in that worldcup and india won that worldcup too.
so he is the best attacking option for T20 cricket, and he should have been selected over murali vijay that too to replace sehwag.
vijay got chance only due to the fact that, kris srikanth, the indian chief selector is from chennai, he selected the boy from his home town over Uthappa.


and india defenitely dont have quick bowlers of world standards thats a known fact.
but what i was speaking was, when you are in super8 matches playing against some god teams in the world a fairly experienced Irfan would have been a better option.
at least he knows to bat well and bowl well on some days.

Hey, we already have quite a few 'attacking options' - Raina, Yusuf, Dhoni........even Rohit, Goti can also attack if necessary. Even Vijay, with whom you're so disgusted, is known to be a good hitter. You can't judge a player's talent from a few matches only........then we'd have never got Yuvi, as it was only Dada who backed him when he was performing poorly. Vijay have good record in domestic cricket, & then he performed well in IPL........if you call his century 'lucky', the you should watch some highlights to count how many times Uthappa had been dropped.

Besides, there is another problem..........if you drop Vijay, then who'll open ? You can try makeshift opener(like Karthik or Yusuf) in one match, but can play the gamble everytime. Utthappa himself is not a successful opener...........he played many matches as open in domestic cricket, but his performance had been pathetic. For this problem, we can't permanently drop Vijay.

And why are targeting Vijay only ? What about Goti ? He scored only 4 against Afghanistan & 9 against Australia. Our last match was a collective failure.......we bowled poorly, & no batsman except Rohit showed the eagerness to put a resistance.

Now, Irfan Pathan ! Well, even if you take him in the team, where would he play ? Dhoni, until now, have depended on two pacers , & please don't suggest that Irfan should replace either Zak or Nehera.........they might not be performing quite well right now, but Pathan has lost the ability to spearhead the attack. And if I drop Jadeja & opt for a 3rd pacer, why Irfan ? I would rather go for an in-form Vinay Kumar.

And I also didn't like the inclusion of Umesh Yadav..........I'd have rather liked to see Harmeet Singh, who played quite well in IPL. I read the logic behind Umesh's inclusion was his performance for Vidarbha. couldn't understand it....... Vidarbha is a Plate Division team, & except some limited-over competitions they generally don't have to face top teams. Even in IPL he was used in only few matches. I'm sure some regionalism worked in this case.

Its now that we are playing the real game of gambling with M.vijay as opener.
its not the few chance,he performed only once that too against afgan in the 5 matches india played.

its clear that he is a waste in the team.
if irafan was there he could have used anywhere in the batting order which will giv dhoni added advantage. and bowling no indian bowler bowls well, then why you make irfan the only poor bowler.

do you still supportM.vijay its pathetic that he has been turned out as a unlucky opener for india, at least dhoni should try him to come down the order and push someone up.

Murali vijay is the absolute failure for india in this T20 world cup, he himself proved it too.

OK, after watching you batting so madly for Irfan & Uthappa, & cursing Vijay, I decided to take a deep look at this matter. I collected the data from IPL-3, & here I'm showing you what I found :

Vijay : total-458, SR- 156.84, Avg-35.23, 50s- 2, 100s- 1

Uthappa: total-374, SR-171.55,Avg-31.16 , 50s- 3, 100s- 0

Now, I analysed a bit more. I segmented their match-by-match score :

I agree, Vijay have failed to shine in WC, but the above data clearly shows that there is nothing to be so excited about Uthappa. Except Strike Rate, he lags Vijay in every aspect.

And I again say - stop making Vijay the scapegoat. What have our 'experienced' batsmen, like Goti, Yuvi & Raina(except that century) done ?

Now, Irfan. He played some brilliant innings with bat in IPL-3, but please look at his bowling. He took 15 wkts spending 426 runs, with an ECon of 9.2 & SR of 28.4. Now look at Vinay, whom I earlier preferred over Irfan. He took 16 wkts with an SR of 173. & ECon 8.57.

Look how lost the matches - our bowlers conceded few runs in fist few overs; then the opponents bulldozed our bowling to set a high target; we lost quick wickets while chasing ; one or two players in the middle & lower-middle order try to recover ; but due to high asking rate we fail. Even if Irfan would play, he would bat in lower-midle or tail, & couldn't do much as our top & miiddle order is failing. I would rather try to keep the target under reach, & field Vinay in place of Irfan.

Another argument made by you - experience. The last T20 Uthappa played for India in Feb 1,2008 against Australia, where he scored 1. The last ODI he played in July 6, 2008. I doubt if 'experience' would've helped him or India in T20 WC, as since then he've played almost all matches only in India. Outside India, he played in Ipl-2, where he scored just 175 runs in 13 matches.

there is no special reason, he gave the chance for a boy from his home town, when he got a rare situation to do so.
he got viru injured, luckly vijay got a century in IPL and he used this situation to give chance for a boy from his home town chennai thats all.
but unfortunately, for india and for Srikanth, the selection was a big mistake and indian team paid for the mistake.

I disagree on Umesh. Actually I think Harmeet should be included in place of Umesh. & in place Jadeja, we should use Vinay or Piyush(though I'd like to see Aswin or Murli Kartik in place of him)
