The pill turns 50 today

Hi, newtalent. I am glad to have found out this information. This is a very long time for pills to have been invented. I was on the pill when I was 16 years old. When my aunt was on it, I thought that pills were candy. Like the small sweet tart flavors. But I found out that it was Birth Control pills.

hi newtalent to me and to a lot of other elderly and middleaged women the pill was one of the best things to come along the pike in many years. Instead of men just marrying women quite simply to have a baby machine, women became treated as r eal people who could also work and help afford the needs and the luxuries of a house hold. Of course there are bad sides to anything but the good far outshines the bad. less women died as the result of being worn ou t having baby after baby after baby now longer households with twelve children and a sickly mother just about ready to die, now women have a say over how many children they wish to produce given the financial stablity of their homes. we are no longer mostley farm families and we do not need to produce a basketball team size of offspring so as to be able to keep the fields plowed and harvested. One or two children are just fine for most households as the cost of living had kept going up here in the US.

Though I am not personally a huge fan of the pill, I think that the pill has been a great invention. Granted, there are still a lot of unwanted pregnancies in this world, but I think that in the past 50 years there have been far fewer than there were in the past. One thing that I have noticed based on my own observation is that there isn't enough education to individuals about the pill. I was on the pill for about two and a half years after my daughter was born and when I went on another medication due to an injury in my back, the doctors didn't tell me that it would make my birth control not effective. I think that this kind of information should be disclosed to patients.

Wow! I cant believe the birth control is about 52 years old now. It has advanced over the years but its seems as if we still are in the dark times. I mean we truely dont know the risks we take when taking the pill.
