Do you really need a mothers day to remember your mother?

Sunday was Mothers' Day and there was a hash of publicity around it. And I wondered what was the fuss was all about - I don't recall seeing so much publicity behind Mothers' Day earlier.
Do you really need a mothers day to remember your mother? And then what about the remaining 364 days? There are days for other family members as well celebrated in different parts of the world.
Don't get me wrong - I have no problems with celebrations and if it reminds you to think of your near and dear ones - great.
I remember my mother everyday and love so much.
What do you think?

No. We actually don't need just a day to remember the 'day' of someone - birthday, anniversary, mother's day, father's day, Christmas day, etc. For me, every day is a celebration of life and every thing in between. I just don't care and love my mom on Mother's Day, same for my dad on Father's Day - I do it every day. Same for birthdays. I just don't give celebrate and thank God for my life during my birthday. I do it every day, as long as I live. Every day is a blessing and we ought to give thanks and appreciation to the people in our lives, especially the one above.

I totally agree with you. Why should we keep mother's day limited to only one day. She is there for you all life. You should keep her in your heart all life. Same is the thing I feel for father's day, friendship day, valentines day. Why why limit all these activities to one day only.

Truly said man, she is in our heart and we love her everyday. There is no limitation to express our love whether its mother's day or friendship day, we should always express love to all around us.
Thanks for the response.

well i think there has to be special days for special people! :) of course everyone loves their mommy! :) but when there is a special day, you can do something special in order to make them feel highly appreciated and special!
other days also you can show this gesture but it becomes the routine. . . . only when done out of the blue, it would be a huge surprise! :)

Why just one day, make every day special for her. she is the unique creation of god. I do not think she expects expensive gifts everyday, its all about loving.
Thanks for the response.

Well, I believe there will always be much publicity for mother's day. In the first place, it was made so that greeting cards would sell. If it wasn't publicized the flower shops, gift shops, card shops, etc, would have smaller business come that day.
But to answer your question, we don't need a mother's day to remember our mothers. We could remember and commend our mothers any day, in any way. I remember mine when I see an older woman with the same built as her. When I eat good food because my mom's a superb cook! (Too bad I haven't learned to cook.) When I see my boyfriend's mom because his mom and mine look similar (for me anyway).
And this post made me think of my mom again. ^^,

Good analysis, more occasions= more selling = more profit, so keep adding special days to out calender.
I am happy that the post made you think of your mom.
Thanks for the response.

Hey AjaySingh, i agree with you. If we really love our mother. We don't need a special day to celebrate or to thanks her. Say thank you to her everyday is even more meaningful compare to just buy her something during mother's day. For me, mother's day or father's day or very valentine is special for all the shop, restaurant or company to boost up their sales and profit.

Yes, I think that if we care and love her and that would be the best thing for her.
Even I cannot wait for valentine day to express my love and same applies to Mother's day. I love my mom everyday.
Thanks for the response.

I feel the same way about Valentine's day. Is that the only day you show how much you love someone? But with Mother's Day there are so many of us who Don't say Thank you to her during the year. So for those people they need a day to stop and say thank you for all she does. I Always said thank you to my mom. So Mother's day was just extra. I lost my mom in 2005 so now Mother's Day is bitter sweet. But this year I saw a film I would have seen with her and I enjoyed it. I hope she is proud of me.

Kinda like new year, do we really need for new year to come for us to start a new life? I guess that day is kinda like a reminder that we should be thankful for having a mother. But of course, like you said, we could be thankful everyday. I guess its celebrated to make all the mothers in the world feel special for a day. Or something like that.

The reason that you said to feel special seems logical, mothers just want to see their childrens to be happy and thats enough reason for them to be happy.
Thanks for the response.

it is so true.. we dont need a special dedicated mothers day to celbreate.. all teh other days in the year can be used to support your mother or your father.. in th esurrent socuety because of the busy life stuyle most people forget about their parents.. that is the only reason there is a special mothers day or father's day..

I don't need a special day to remember my mother. I constantly thank her for what she's given to me and I talk to her on a regular basis. I do tell her that I love her almost every day. She is the reason that I am here and even more so the reason that I am who I am. No, I don't think that we need to have a special day to remember our mothers, but it is nice that there is a day in every year that is dedicated to them.

i think the special days set aside for remembering our loved ones (mother's day, father's day, valentine's day, grandparents' day etc) benefits the greeting cards companies and other commercial businesses most. our families and loved ones are with us everyday and we should find frequent opportunities to show them we care.
