Why do you think Gloria Macapagal Arroyo run as Congressman?  

I know she likes to help people, but unfortunately most of those people don't felt that help. She likes to represent the people in congress? For Christ sake, she was a President!!! She has all the chance and time in the world to do that representation for the well being of a much more Filipino, actually the whole Filipino community and what she did is HELLO GARCI, ZTE, and others... You're blinded men. But well it's your opinion, so be it. But try to look for other places, you'll only see few of those people that agree with you.

@Jamed28. Whatever that reason is that only known to her. If only people those who are blinded with their idealism open their eyes then that's the time they can see what the person does to them. She does more for this country but people doesn't knew to appreciate it because they have different beliefs that was being instilled to them by the President's critics and enemy in politics. To example the least, those people who eat part of their meals from the rice they get from the government but don't know how to thank who initiate the program and instead badmouthed GMA. They are plenty here in our place and I am just wondering that they still afford swallow to it. We all know that these people are no clean one also. They have different agenda for their selves and not because they are creating noises against the President's doing because they're looking for the people's welfare in general. Are we looking for change? Yes, we are! But where are those people before crying for change now and calling us to give chance to a person known to them as the lesser evil? They failed to cooperate at that time and instead believed on the allegations created by those people who are against GMA. I am just glad that despite the odds, she survived it all. One thing might be true if you are suspected for something, but time will give you also the chance to stood up if you do not did what they believed in you. It depends which one you believed and it's up yours. I know that majority of the people despise her but they are just being so irrational on the other side. Just think of any irregularities if there are many projects to be implemented for and if you are afraid of suspicion, it's better to stay in the corner and do not do for improvements anymore.

well i think you're right... IF YOU CAN TELL A THINK THAT GMA DO FOR THIS COUNTRY? Is it the SLEX.. I am telling you they OWE it? actually she owe it and will pay later? The oil price hike? The EVAT? are those the things the she did? It is because that we stay in the corner and do nothing that is why we are in this situation right now? have you tried cultivating a land? I am a farmer and until now we are suffering from water? because they never put attention to us farmer? we don't have irrigations. Why because GMA says we are under the NGO that ERAP started? I never like ERAP if that's what you think but I never like GMA more... If you are talking about general welfare well look around you if you can see that general welfare that GMA did? or maybe you are living in Pampanga. Try Laguna, Cavite or Batangas. Those allegations are true, she event say SORRY on national television. ZTE, there are pictures taken on shenzen, china, GMA playing golf with the ZTE personnels. which is illegal. THE TIME HAS COME NOT ONLY FOR ME TO STOOD UP... Everybody knows what kind of President GMA was. And for God sake, she was a president, now she ran as a congressman? for what to change and improve the country, to do the things that she wasn't able to to do when she was a president, and she'll do it now in congress? even a kid will be confuse of her intentions.

Well you can tell your lamentations to the authority, to the right people whom you think who can prosecute her--but I doubt you trusted them. Maybe you can wait until the newly elect president does what were the shortcomings of the outgoing president. Maybe there would be changes at all. I myself is very excited about it because that's what they brag right at the start.

I was about to send my comment to the original post... and glady I found yours.
I totally agree with you that she ran for the government position because of "immunity." During her presidency, she had faced alot of issues,and she knew beforehand that the next set of government officials, especially the President of the country, will investigate on those issues, which would be too difficult and controversial for her; and if found guilty, she'll be put behind bars.

If she did run for the Senate, for sure she will not win... Simply because she has broken some people's trust, support and loyalty because of the many issues she has been into. The wounds are still fresh. She has wounded the lives and hearts of some Filipino people. The wounds are still bleeding.

In my opinion, she chose to run for the lower position because she knew she will win, from the support of the people from her own place. Some Filipinos still have a strong regionalistic attitude. Some people think that if an influential and powerful government official, like GMA, is from their place, they will have stronger voice in the Senate, and thus, projects and benefits will pour over their region. But that is just one aspect though....

I also think, that maybe GMA had really been a good leader for them and had made several accomplishments that only these people have truly experienced and enjoyed. It was not hard for them to put her back to a government position because they still believe in them.

GMA was not totally bad, for me. Like any other Presidents, she did her part. I am not totally against her, but again, her issues need further thorough investigations. If she's guilty, then she should face the consequences of her actions. Unless proven guilty, she's still one of the better leaders this country had.

I'm also thinking that she has an agenda for running in the congress and that is to push through the CHA-CHA and to change our government to parliamentary so that she can run again as prime minister. I don't if she's just power hungry or has the real desire to help the Filipino people, but so far, she had the chance as the president for 6 years and her term when Estrada was deposed as the president and look what did she do to our country after 9 years? Our international debt increased from billions to trillions and the poor are getting poorer.

You nail it man... you are really right. Look at her right now? And those who cried to crushed her were not successful. AND SHE WANTED TO KEEP IT THAT WHY!!! AND THAT'S THE REASON WHY SHE RUNS FOR CONGRESS... :)

She was a president, and now she's in congress? why? is it because there are things the she wasn't able to do when she was in malacanang and now she going to do it in congress? ha ha ha ha... only fools will believe she would.

Well you just said it and I am not a defender of her to say more words with you. You are free to believed on everything you want. If she will ever prosecuted and found guilty, or on the way that you and other people wanted then do the actions. If she would be found guilty then, so be it, "no one is above the law" and she should pay her due if she is proven committed all the wrongdoings.
