If it has a working Ethernet card, either built in or added later on, and there is a modem, then it is possible to do so. Of course an Internet account with an ISP is required. Making a direct connection without a modem is not possible.

A dial up is an expensive way to be online, unless the user spends a little online time, and does not download anything. A dial up connection is slow.

Yes... i'm using a plug-in kit internet service here in the Philippines its not that slow you can achieve 3mbps by using this..
its a dial-up service and also you can use it as a wifi receiver its very handy you can plug it to any computer and have access on the internet..

I have an old compute that my friend calls a dinosaur lol and I bought a special board and it is even wi fi so as long as you have a modem within it I am sure it will be fine Ellie :)

You need a modem to do this. If you can find a port where you can plug your telephone wire (rj11 connector)at the back of your PC then you have a built-in modem. Some older computers though (I hope your computer is not as old as this)does not have a built-in modem.

But just as the others have said, a dial-up modem is so slow. Mostly it can transmit and receive only up to 57 Kbps. Also, I wonder if there are still service providers offering this type of service.
