Cats and Pregnant Women  

hi lillybelledaisyrose. I think , and this is just hatley's theory, a cat can actually hear a baby's heartbeat and it fascinates them, now i am probably wrong but it sounds good. I know cats have good hearing and can hear and sense things before we can. Also of course it could be hormones too. hard to know for sure. But you are now selected and approved by you cat. Cats are so selective and so regal.They pick us out as pets,not the other way around.he he.

Because pregnant women are warm, and cats just love to be somewhere warm. My cat can't get enough of me when I was pregnant. lol.

Cats just want to be loved. I like cats. My mother has 12 cats. She loves everyone of them like family. Cat's will protect a family's home when a robber breaks in, and that's awesome. I know this because I saw it on the news one day. A cat acted like a gard dog, jumping at the guys biting and clawing his face. So cats are awesome.

oh, i didn't know about that...cats like pregnant women..

I think cats are sensitive (or some are) to the changes a woman's body undergoes when they are pregnant. But, it is also possible, that despite your dislike for the animals... that this particular cat has taken a like to you.

the cat knows you don't like him, so you do things like not look at him and cats LOVE that, a cats only look at other cats when they are being threatening, so the human trait of looking right at a cat isn't seen as friendly

if you have ever seen cats in groups, a cat might look to see what another cat does, then look away

if they are feeling really friendly and relaxed they will look at the other cat and do a slow eye blink and then look away

I used these techniques with new cats all the time and I have a high success rate on getting non-feral, but scared cats to be friendly with me.

so, you might try staring at the cat, a water gun or sprayer with water is another thing you can use to discourage the cat from being too friendly with you

I have four children and I can't remember my cats behaving differently towards me during my pregnancies. It sounds very sweet behaviour from your cats though. Congratulations and Good Luck for the rest of your pregnancy!

I am currently pregnant as well and we also have a cat, but I can say that this cat doesnt come by me more because I am pregnant...we got the cat back in september for the kids and she attached herself to my 2 yr old daughter, granted my 6 yr old son scares her when he plays with her so I can understand that.

this is my third pregnancy and our third cat...our first one died of cancer at 9 yrs old, and the second cat we had got for the first cat didnt take his death very well and we had to put her down at 5 yrs old....so we were cat free for 2 yrs and then my hubby wanted to get the kids a pet and came home with this cat....she is going to be a yr old in July, but my other cats reacted to my pregnancies and this one doesnt...and for that I am very grateful.....LOL

Perhaps maybe because you are home more than who you intended the cat to be with? I've never heard of cats wanting to be near pregnant women more though but that is interesting.
I found that cats like a challenge so mabey if you pester it more it will stay away from you. When my cat was alive, I would constantly talk to him when he entered in a room I was in, pick him up and hold him even though he hated it. I would even go out of my way to look for him and bug him while he was trying to nap. He stayed far away from me as much even though he knew he was loved.
