What is Rosetta Stone?  

I personally haven't used it, but from people who have and from research I've done on the program, I've found that it is probably one of the best if not the best language learning programs that are out there if you actually use it every day and use it correctly. I've heard nothing, but good things about it. I hope this was helpful to you.

The Rosetta stone that was discovered in Egypt, in 1799,It had three piece of writing on it, that all the said same thing,but in three different languages. one was in ancient Egyptian writing called demotic , one was in another Ancient Egyptian writing called Hieroglyphics , and one was written in ancient Greek. This stone greatly helped historians who were trying to find out more about Ancient Egypt . It discovery led to the translation of ancient Egyptian writing.
Historians could read Greek Demotic and they could translate the words into the Hieroglyhpics,and they then knew how to read ancient words that people could not read for so many years .. the stone is named after city where it was found, Rosetta. Today that city called Rashid , The stone is now in British museum in London.

the high school here uses it and it works great
also the US military uses it so it must work, right?

Hi Keval32, I have the Rosetta Stone for UK English. Purchased it for training purpose. I think it is good if you want to learn the correct pronunciations. I haven't tried the other language.

You said you downloaded it? I had to purchase it and it was not cheap. I think I paid £175 for it, if I'm not mistaken. It could be slightly less or more. I bought it a few years ago.

I never downloaded the program online since I dont think at the time it was available for my area. I actually ordered a free disc with the information / lessons on them. You could pick from a list of languages and they would mail out the program. Ive never actually had time to go through it all yet. So I havent learnt the language but Im planning on it.

When I want to learn a language the best think is to get to know people who do speak the language I want to learn.
Practice makes perfects.

i have the one for learning korean. i tried several of the exercises; i think if you use it consistently then it would help. i did not have the patience to do so and besides i think korean is such a hard language to learn. probably the best way to learn it is to find someone to talk to.

I have a copy of the program and Japanese and French language discs. However, the program will not make you fluent with other language if you're not using it. that's why English is still the only language I know apart from my native tongue which Filipino.

This is interesting as only recently did I call them up and I asked them to send me the free demo cd-rom. On the demo cd there are a number of different languages that you can try and I think that it just focuses on level 1 on each language. I'm really pleased with what I have seen so far and I'm inclined to try and learn a new language using Rosetta Stone.

There have been quite a few adverts on the television regarding this company and they have excellent reviews. The only thing that is quite off putting is the price of the course once you decide to make a purchase. I'm pretty sure that it's the best language learning program out there and if my finances improve or I decide to start saving money towards this then I will certainly give it a try. I think I would like to focus on Italian as my first language! Andrew

Hello Keval, I actually dont know the Rosetta Stone until my boyfriend told me about it. My boyfriend is a foreigner and he is living and studying here in our country. He tried to bought a cd of rosetta stone and he tried to used it in his daily conversation. It went pretty good because he can now speak our language. Not so perfect but he manage to understand our language. Sometimes he have hard time to pronounce it but he manage to be understood by the person he is talking.

I guess that Rosetta Stone helps him to improve his speaking skills.
