Is Cigarettes the only Cause of Lung Cancer?  

no it is definitely not. some people that live in smoggy areas (big cities etc) can get lung cancer just because of the air they breathe and they have never smoked a day in their life!

No smoking sadly is not the only way to get lung cancer.
Passive smoking, ie. living, working, being in the same room as someone can give you lung cancer. This is why so many countries are banning smoking in public places.

Asbestos can give you crippling lung cancer. Before knowing it, many buildings had asbestos in there fabrication as it was seen as the best flame retardent at the time. Now we know it is highly dangerous.

Transport pumping out toxic fumes can also give cancer, hence catilitic (spelt wrong) convertors are now on modern cars etc.

I am no doctor but these are just a couple of examples.

yes, coal workers get lung cancer alot of the times as well as workers who are exposed to asbestos in old construction materials.

your boyfriend is right i'm sorry to say,there are other causes,but i would say the main cause for most of the cases is smoking,i may be wrong but that's my opinion

I think its the main cause but there are still other factors aside from that. I know someone who died of lung cancer and its not because of cigarettes. She got it becuase everyday she has to do things that has something to do with chemicals in the farm. She often inhales them and eventually, she got lung cancer. It was discovered when it was already stage four and they only have to wait for her to go and she did after a month of suffering from the illness.

smoking is not the only cause of lung cancer.... You can get it from breathing in all the pollution in the air, and you can also get it from breathing in all those different chemicals you breath in while you clean your house. you breath in alot of different things that can cause lung cancer, and all the other lung ailments that their are.

Yes there are plenty of people out there who developed cancer and never smoked a cigarette in their lives. Like Doctor Oz said about a week ago on his TV show. Everyone of us has cancer in our bodies but depending on how you take care of yourself and what you eat will determine if the cancer will develop or not. People have different inmune systems that either are susceptable to second hand smoke or the quality of the outdoor air. It all depends on where you live and the environment of that area.

no dear friend, it may be causing by the air we are breathing. mainly by genes , which is transferred from your parents.

My boyfriend smokes more than nine cigarettes per day and he thinks that this will never be causing such problems as lung cancer but I think differently because I made a research on it and saw that cigarettes do not only create lung cancer but many other diseases too like heart problems, impotency, tumor and kidney problems so all these problems might come through cigarettes. I am doing my best to make him decrease the number of cigarettes he is taking everyday.
