LCD TVs are the new thing on the block for some time now. But lot of people are having problem with the resolution which is slightly inferior on the LCD TV compared to the traditional Flat TV or CRT TVs. So what is your preferred TV? Cheers! Ram

I will offer a bit of my insight on the situation from an Electronics commission-sales representative of a major corporation in previous employment: CRT TVs are virtually becoming a thing of the past. It is rare to walk into a department store such as K-Mart, Walmart or Sears and find a traditional television of that sort. Also, the new remotes that are coming into the market will soon not even be compatible with a traditional TV. Furthermore, those type of TVs are expensive to fix being as there will be limited parts in the future available and not many people who know how to fix them. LCD TVs are all the rage now. They are good TVs, but as I told a lot of customers, not very long lasting. Even an LCD TV as small as about 26" is going to run you almost $400. Pricing the TVs 46" and up will cost you well over $2,000 or more. And, the protection agreements that are purchased on those TVs void very easily. But, in a way, it would be wise to purchase a protection agreement because if something were to happen to the TV, if you can't purchase another one, they will indefinitely replace it. However, they have traditional bulbs in them as do CRT TVs and Plasma TVs. I wouldn't recommend a Plasma TV to anyone because there is plasma gas within the glass of the TV screen and that's why people who have them complain of commercials or words being literally burned into there television for all time. You didn't mention LED TVs, however. These TVs, though expensive, will be the TVs of the near future. They contain LED light bulbs which are the bright ones like you see in blue-like lighted cars and small doctor flashlights. They last a lot longer show a higher resolution which means greater picture. 1080P no less. But, without the right accessories, any TV could be suckish. If you don't have the great sound with the great picture, it doesn't really amount to much. Also, if you purchase an HDTV and don't have HD in your cable plan, it will show like regular TV and little grainy. One last point. The 3D TVs are not even worth having. Not only is it close to or over $3,000, but you have to buy the 3D glasses that make it complete, too. Which is quite bogus if I do say so myself being that the glasses are close to or over $100. Food for thought.

Wow! Thanks for such a detailed description. I was not even aware of LED TVs. I usually wait for new technology to mature a bit and then go for it, so I have still not moved the LCDs. In India LCD has just become the rage, so I am still waiting before I make my view. I will keep your points in mind while evaluating. Cheers! Ram
