How often do you wear sunscreen and where do you put it?

I have been wearing sunscreen everyday. It has been crazy hot here but I was told that even in the winter it is important to wear sunscreen. I have pretty much made it a routine to put it on my face and neck every morning before going out or to work. Do you wear sunscreen everyday? Where do you most often put your sunscreen?

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It depends on my mood and how long I will be in the sun. I used to really slather it on my kids but I only put it on them once in a while since I heard a negative report recently about sunscreen being just as harmful with all of the chemicals in them.

I'll have to research the chemical thing. Richnai mentioned something about that too and offered a great link. They have been pushing sunscreen for so long that of course we would slather it on our children. I once read that most skin cancer cases originated from sundamage that a person recieved as a child. Thanks for the input and take care.

Hiya Jen, Wear sunscreen on my face and neck, arms and hands and legs where they are exposed a lot to the Sunlight. This is a must for me as I live in Spain and the Sun is very strong and powerful. I love Sunshine but I don´t like to lie in it either well at least not on the beach. I can still get sunburned so if I was sunbathing I would have to keep applying cream over and over. It is a bit of a bind also but it´s great knowing you are protecting yourself. I usually walk a lot so it is a must really.

Sunburns are no fun are they...I do wear it on my face and neck but not really anywhere else. I guess I should though. I haven't had a sunburn in a longtime thank goodness. Thanks for responding.

Yes..I once read that most skin damage actually occurs during childhood and that it just doean't show up until later. I have always been crazy about putting the sunscreen on my children and have had no problems dropping a threat or two to people that would have them out in the sun. It's a shame that your relative let that happen. Take care.

Hiya Jen, No they are no fun at all and Sunburn can hurt like mad too. Even if you put Calendula on it. Or that pinky emulsion oil that I think is still around as well. I have got sunburned before but not through trying to get a suntan just by accident really. I don´t think people realize how powerful the Sun is till they caught by it. My eldest Son got his back badly sunburned by one of my so called relatives I pleaded with her to keep a shirt on his back all the time she laughed and said he did not need it. I said well he does and I know him better than you. When he came back he had the a really terrible sunburn and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off without saying a word. He was crying most of the Night with the pain. I never let him go with her again never ever. I would not have allowed this to happen to her daughter either. Children run the highest risk of all.

You are so sweet. I figure that I spend less than 30 minutes a day outside, and none of that in the same time block. Most of the rest of the time I'm in sun, I'm in a car, behind glass. I figure that any damage done to my skin was done before sunscreen was invented...

I never wear sun screen. I get burnt on my face almost every time I go outside for more than a few minutes, but I still don't bother putting it on. I do put it on my kids though.

Hi lilybug! I have always been a lot more regular with the kids than myself too. I used to like the color it give my face to get sun on it. I had a nurse once tell me that I should wear it even when I went to the mailbox. It is part of my routine now but I kinda wish i would have started it earlier. Thanks for responding.

Thanks Jo. How is the weather where you are? Unbearable for the most part here. It is so humid and hot. Better to stay in out of this stuff. Thanks for responding.

Yes, I wear it if I am going outside for more than a few minutes when it is hot outside. I usually put it on my arms if they are exposed, as they get burnt otherwise and I try to be careful.

My face is my place that I worry about. I had a nurse tell me that I should wear it even if I was going to the mailbox! I'm not quite that crazy about wearing it but I do put it on every morning before I leave the house. Thanks for the response.

i am from a very humid country, and some other people put sun screen when they go out but i dont. it will just make me sticky and icky the whole day har har har. when we are going for a swim i dont put either but we put it on our son's back for protection against sun burn. but if we will only go out we dont put any sun screen we use umbrella to give us shade from the heat of the sun.

Umbrellas are good too. I sometimes use a hat. I agree thay it is so important to protect the children more. Their skin is more sensitive. There are sunscreens that are sticky but the one I have for my face is really good. Thanks for the response.

I have sunscreen on hand almost always but rarely use it, I will use it on my kids but almost never use it on myself. I am not sure why I dont use it on myself I just never do. There are so many days especially here lately that it is much needed but still I don't....I need to though!

I never wear it. I hate sun screen. It's stupid to wear it. You still get burned.

It stinks when you still get burned but I put it on several times when I'm out in the sun and I don't get burnt. There are a lot of good things about sunscreens. It has been proven to prevent skin cancer and accelerated aging. Thanks for the response.
