Words fail me
I live in North West England.
I have just got up out of bed having lay listening to the rain that has fallen all night.
I am looking out of the window onto my rain soaked garden as the rain trickles down my window.
I have opened my newspaper
I have read the headlines
A hosepipe ban is to be introduced in most of north-west England for the first time in 14 years.
The temporary ban, which will affect millions of householders in the region, will come into force at 0600 BST on Friday
WHAT THE ****?
This comes just months after a village in the area was flooded because of torrential rain, a policeman losing his life and just 5 months since the country was covered in more snow than we've had in years - resulting in me being stuck in my cottage for a week!
We live close to the Lake District - probably the wettest place in England, and because we have a couple of weeks good weather - we are in a DROUGHT!!

maybe the authorities who put up the ban in your place hasn't even been to your place...just sitting in a dry & dusty office somewhere making up policies and stuff..
hmmm..come to think about it. they should have made that drought announcement near your place on one of those rainy days...that would have been a hysterical sight to see

maybe they went to the same school as those idiots who run the Town Councils over here... their thought process seems so eerily similar

How ridiculous! I have not seen the news yet, but that is so stupid... now I can tell you something... I live in the South East of England... and we have had no rain at all, the clouds are very grey and thick out there, but no rain... and I have not heard of a hose pipe ban here in this area, and normally we do get them.... This seems total madness!

That's just crazy, Chem! I could see them asking people to use them less but putting a ban on them seems a bit over the top. In my area, people have cut back on using them and mainly because our water bills are outrageously high. A lot of landlords do not like tenants to use them unless the tenant is paying for their own water. Right now where I live, we have been having a major heat wave. I would love to sit under a hose or take a shower every hour but truth is , Im pretty sure my landlady would raise my rent if I suddenly started using a lot more water.

Ho Oldchem, I saw this on the news this morning, apparently having a hosepipe on for an hour uses as much water as afamily offouruse in a week. I thought it starnge that this should happen in your area considering next to the lake district, but good old England comes to a stop in the snow, hosepipe ban if the suns shines for morethan a day, transport stops in the autumn because of leaveas on the line, always the same ol eh! You would have thought they would have worked ways to deal with by now but NO. Can understand you being annoyed. Huggles. Ellie :D

I am very sorry to hear about this.
I hope that it will get better very soon!! It has been rainy here too for the past couple of days. But, it is nothing compared to what you have experienced in New England. I hope that the rain will clear up very soon. Take care.
