In what must be a major victory for Sir Alex, he has got Vidic to commit to Manchester United for another 4 years with a new contract. Vidic was rumored to be on the way out since last year, but this deal puts the rumors to rest. What are your views on this deal? Cheers! Ram

Last year there were rumors of him going out of the team despite he being one of the best center backs in the EPL. So that's great news for Man U fans. Cheers! Ram

But the fact is that the last two seasons Vidic has been their best defender. Especially with Rio injured, Vidic is the key for Manchester United. But this season I am not convinced he is at his best. Cheers! Ram

I definately thought that Vidic had had his head turned by a big european club and was on his way out of old trafford, so it's great news that he as pledged his future to the club, I just hope Rio has a better season regarding injuries and they can resume the good partnership that they developed when they were winning league after league. However I do think that United need to strenghten their midfield, I just don't think it's strong enough. Scholes and Giggs are now mid thirties and Carrick never seems to believe he is good enough to take control and dominate a game of football. Hargreaves is injured again it's not good

Yes, with both Vidic and Rio missing at the back United might have been very vulnerable at the start of the season. Now that they have Vidic firmly in place, they can look to groom a youngster to work with him!! Cheers! Ram

This is good news for Ferguson. Ferdinand is very injury prone and will miss large part of the season. Fergie will need an experience leader in the defence and Vidic should just provide that. Meanwhile, young defender like Johnny Evans can learn from him.

Ferdinand is already out till September and I think he will miss more matches this season, so Vidic will be the key for Man U this season. Cheers! Ram
