I have a friend, a dear friend and she will talk to me on the phone and sound perfectly sane. But when it comes to an e-mail she is crazy. Sometimes I think she just writes and never reads what she writes. I have asked her why this is so and she just blows me off. She is a long way away from me so I cannot visit her to check on her, but she does concern me. Do you know people like this?

I notice changes in my dad all of the time. We have not been to see him since June, but my brother lives close. He is just busier than we are. My daughter will see him in August and we hope to as well. Even in person, dad is losing focus and is kind of scattered.

He sees his doctor regularly. They change his meds if needed. Trying to control his diabetes with diet. He was having some digestive troubles when we were visiting last and that may have distracted him. I am so thankful that he is realizing that he is too old to drive on long trips or on the snow and ice.

Hm.Was she always like that?Or this is a new thing? Why do the e-mails look crazy? Is she using slang, making mistakes in every word, her tone is rude or she writes something that reminds sick imagination?Maybe she's just another creative freak.Or she's joking.I'm curious what exactly makes you think so?

Maybe she's just not good at putting her thoughts on paper, I mean writing?Maybe when she starts typing ,her head is empty and she writes very short and simple sentences, or one word sentences, or she's unable to concentrate.I don't think it's really a mental problems.

Is there a chance she may Alzheimer? It is a worry when someone’s behaviour or way of speaking or, in this case, writing changes suddenly. Mental illness of any kind is always a concern and it is one of those things that sadly can happen to anyone! On the other hand it could just be that she gets very passionate about what she is writing, types very fast and doesn’t bother to spell check or read? I’ve typed nonsensical words when I’ve tried to get a special point across...

I know quite a few people that are like this. I think in most cases the reason that they are like this is because they will type without really thinking about what they are doing (at least that is the way that it tends to be for me). It would be nice if there was a way that you were able to check up on your friend, but as you've said, since she is far away from you, it is difficult to check up on her. You just have to find comfort in the fact that when you talk to her on the phone it seems that she is sane.
