Through forgiveness, we can learn hers not judge others and to see others and ourselves as guiltless. (Quote taken from Love is Letting Go Of Fear, by Gerald G. Jampolsky, M.D.) What do you think of this quote? Do you think it is acurate? I don't know if I would say forgivenss makes people guiltless, I would say forgiveness provides with one who forgives with a freedom to let things go and start fresh with someone. Your thoughts?

I agree with you. I don't think forgiveness allows someone to feel that they are no longer guilty. I do think forgiveness is necessary and it can really help people move past a bad episode in their lives. Everybody does things in their life that they regret or feel guilty about. Everybody makes mistakes. I guess the first part of the quote makes sense. Through forgiveness, we can learn not to judge others... because we know that everybody makes mistakes and that the best way to move forward is to forgive.

I would have to say forgiveness would free guilt if they actually forgave. Some people say they forgive and hold a grudge and it only makes matters worse. Forgiving does allow someone to move on and start fresh. So I would have to say it thus relieves guilt. Have a great day!
