My suggestion is to have core 2 duo processor, with 2 gig memory, 120 gig hdd. I think your computer will perform faster if this will be your setup. Just a suggestion. great day

Yikes.... I have a 5 year old computer, that has a 2 duo core, 3 gigs DDR2 ram, and 750gigs of space, and I'm thinking of replacing it with a newer one already for work and games!

speed is based only on the ram speed and your online speed depends upon broadband speed. for gaming try using graphic cards which will increase your speed and gives a good gaming experience

Can you tell me if you've got problem with budget or not? Let me know your estimate so that I can help from there. My general suggestion is at least to have Core I3 or I5 based-processor and minimal 2GB of DDR3 RAM and a minimal of 512MB VGA card. The rest can follow. That general suggestion was made for long term purpose anyway.

You know, it really all comes down to how much money you want to spend. I've seen people talking about 2 gig DDR2 ram computers and such, but by my standards, thats getting pretty wimpy, nowadays, and won't even work with today's newer games, let alone the games that will be coming out in the next few years. My main computer is a duo core 2, with 3 gigs of DDR2 ram, and a Nvidia 9800GT video card. It plays games like WoW great, with the only choppyness being from it's being online (which you need better modems for etc), but games like GTA4 it has a couple of issues with, the game runs slower overall, even with lower graphic quality. Really soon, I'm planning on getting a computer that has at least 8gigs of DDR3 ram, 2 TB of hard drive space, and in the very least, 1 gig of video ram. I'm planning on getting one around christmas-new years, so if I can double those numbers by then, even better!

I forgot to mention... that computer I'm talking about would go for a price of around 1300-1800 dollars right now, all depending on how much extra pieces you get... How much are you willing to spend?

The most important and critical device for a computer is the power supply device. Be sure you have the best power supply device for your computer to assure that your computer will have a long life span. Insufficient power input will be very risky for all your computer peripheral. Then, if you aiming for online gaming, I suggest you use AMD processor, higher core would be better, but if you lack on budget, perhaps dualcore/core2duo would be enough. But you'll need a good enough display card to support your processor's workload. If you use AMD Processor, nVidia display card will be the best mate for it. Try to have a big enough memory for it. 512 MB or 1 GB since it will have a pretty heavy workload when you're playing online game. For the RAM, 2 GB memory would be enough, but if you wish to use 4 GB memory that would be better.
