Has anyone ever heard of tired out ranch? It's a ranch where they reuse Tires. It's in North Dakota, I just came across the site through google image search, and thought I'd mention it to all here. It seems pretty cool, and I'm looking through the pictures now. You guys should check it out and tell me what you think. Do you know of a place like this, not necessarily for tires but for anything? http://www.tiredoutranch.com/index.htm

Wow! What a wonderful idea. There has to be some use for used tires. It is terrible for them to become landfillers! I can't think of anything like that at all. WE used to pick up glass bottles and take them to the glass manufacturers to be recycled though.

It is terrible for a lot of things to become landfillers to be honest. It seems the tire ranch has some political issues with the State of North Dakota, I hate that for them. There is a website, earth911 that tells where to take things no matter where your at, well atleast it's available here in the USA. Did you pick them up off the side of the road, or do you mean just collected them and then took them to the glass manufacturers? The one thing I don't like is we don't really knwo for sure if the things we take to be recycled get recycled.

Oh yes I've heard they had to be sorted by color. It's great you picked them up off the side of the road, it helps the community you were in look better. It just makes me wonder HOW MANY there were! It seems like a lot. Wonder how much it'd be now for long neck bottles or any bottles? Hubby and his parents used to recycle drink cans, but they don't anymore. Reason was the dump started to just throw them away and not recycle them. Not sure if the dump still does that now, but I told my husband we should try to collect bottles again...

We did cans and glass all at the same time. We worked a couple miles of the road each time. My daughter was about 16 months old and we traded off carrying her in a backpack type carrier. We made pretty good money for just a couple hours work, and got to spend some time outdoors, helped the environment, and did something as a family... plus earned a little money!

It looks like they are doing a great job of utilizing this rubber product. I don't know where they make them but when I was a kid someone made a swing out of a old tire and I loved it. I have seem around occasionally. I really think this is a great thing and hope it takes off elsewhere.

The ranch uses them as feeders, fences, planters.... It is a great use for tires! Oh and yes my aunt, atleast used to (not sure that they still do) have a tire swing in her backyard. It was fun. Well I know the Ranch is having hard times with the Politics and policies in North Dakota, but it would be great if other ranches and farms could branch out and do the same thing.

I think this is a real good idea to recycle these tires. Sorry to hear they are having problems. But isn't everyone at some point? Hope they get through it okay. It would be good if other farms took up using the tires too.
